Poor workmanship
one of the slats was not bent to the same radius as the others, would never have bought it in the store with that deformity. I doubt they would've put it out for purchase in a retail store - since I purchased it online and it's a large item, I feel kind of stuck with it. I'll likely bring it to an outlet for a refund - disappointed in quality of workmanship.

Great Christmas Gift
As we don't get much snow in TN, I debated this Christmas purchase for my wife. So glade we had it as we received 6.5" of snow on Epiphany and had three days of use in a variety of conditions. By far the fastest vehicle on the hills. Great looking and appears well made even with fast conditions and a few minor jumps. The wood flexes nicely over the terrain and bumps. The padding makes for a comfortable ride. With the gliding of the wood and the pad, this is much more comfortable and faster than the plastic sleds.

Isla starred on the hill
Oh my! Bought this for my 5 yo granddaughter hoping for snow in Maryland. It came and she spent 2 days “on the slopes”. My daughter said she made so many friends that 4 and 5 kids were on the toboggan at a time. Oh and it went way further down the hill than anything else. Retro, classic, and excellent.

It's Big!
We purchased this for relatives that live in Illinois near one of the Great Lakes, so you know they get snow. They got it and were "WOW"ed by the quality but mostly the size. It will fit the two parents and the child very comfortably.

Brought me back to the days of real sledding
Had these as a kid and loved them, decided to buy one for my nephews 2 year ago and they loved it so I got this one for myself. It was just as fun as when I was 10 (a long time ago). I will say that the pad is awesome, I didn't have one as a kid and thought in my old age it might be needed and it makes a great experience even better.
This is wood, so be prepared to maintain it (ie wax it).

Let me paint you a picture
Imagine a blanket of snow has covered your neighborhood, you trudge through 2 feet of snow to your local sledding hill. Local children are attempting to charge the massive hill but are getting swallowed up by too much powder for their silly little saucers. That is when you arrive with your freshly waxed LL Bean toboggan. You careen down the slope so quickly that all anyone can see is a cloud of snow behind you, carefully steering your toboggan by gently bending the slats, narrowly avoiding trees and continuously gaining speed until you arrive at the bottom of the hill and come to a stop. Now tell me...DO YOU WANT THIS TOBOGGAN OR NOT!!!

this was a great purchase and my Kids and Grand Kids really enjoyed on Christmas Day. The 10.00 Gift Card thou should NOT have an Expiration date on it. One shoudl have at least one year to use it not just 45 days, I think that should be changed.

Toboggan Xmas Gift
This was a Xmas gift for 3 young sisters ages 6,8, & 10. All 3 wanted one so Santa produced this one. While the weather has been uncooperative this year for snow, Xmas being in the mid 60's in Maryland, the girls had to at least sit on it and pretend to be tobogganing. It is well made and sturdy and I wish the cushion was a little thicker but they can always use an old bath towel to sit on. Of course with all the snow padded clothes they should be just fine. Well made, the price was right for this item and it was shipped very quickly. I'd recommend the purchase of this toboggan.

Fabulous Sled!
We jumped to the slope shortly after receiving this toboggan from LLBean and our family had a blast. The toboggan is well built and came in a well packaged box. Only one slight critique would be that the bottom side of the boards could use more sanding but all-in-all we love the sled. Also, the sled is wider than our other toboggan which is better for adults. It is also very sturdy, I don't feel like the slats will break when you're barreling down the hill.
Side note: In the shipping information from the company they provide information on how to order new slats if one of them were to break. That's great news for anyone that's considering purchasing one because you know its built to be repaired rather than thrown away.

Love my King of the Hill Size Toboggan
I searched and read reviews for available toboggans and although I found one that cost less, I assumed it would not fit the bill and I thought the LL Bean version would. It does. I got it to use with my collection of grandkids as I thought the plastic sleds we were using just didn't match up to the toboggan I used as a kid. I appreciate the instructions so I could get it waxed up and ready to go. We've lost some of our snow so I'm waiting for more to give it a real test but I'm very happy with the purchase. It's not the cheapest and there were certainly some high-end expensive ones available but I believe I got the best value in finding a sled that matches up to the ones I used in the '60's and '70's.

Great Looking Toboggan Out of the Box
This is a Christmas gift for the grandkids. The toboggan arrived well- packaged. Out of the box, the appearance and build quality are pretty good. I have very high expectations on items of this type. As of yet, no snow to run it, so durability test is forthcoming. Based on its initial presentation, I would buy another.

Shoddy workmanship
Had one of the best times of my winter life on a toboggan, so i wanted to try and recreate the joy for my family. I had always trusted LL Bean's quality but i must say, this toboggan i received isn't looking very good. Granted, we haven't actually used it because Santa just brought it to us yesterday and it's 40 degrees here in the NorthEast. I was taught to not judge things on looks alone, but missing a screw hole, patching up the old one, and trying again for a brand new product just doesn't seem right. The flaw is shown to you every time you sit down on the front of sled. Disappointed in the quality of workmanship for sure.

We currently do not have snow on the ground, ended up using the toboggan as a prop for Christmas pictures at parties. Everyone loved it. Reminds me of a longer version of the one I had as a child.

GREAT SLED FOR THE $$$
Yes, I found a toboggan for less money, but you get what you pay for. The LL Bean toboggan is made of better wood, and the extra pads are thick, and will protect your knees on a rough hill.

Not just a toboggan, but an incredible decoration!
We had this before, and for some reason it was lost. We move around a lot, and when the kids were small and we were up north, we used it constantly. It fit all four when they were small, and was high quality. Somewhere in our moves, we lost it. I got another, not because the kids will use it, although maybe a couple will, but because it is the best Christmas decoration out there. I actually bolted a hanger for it on the house in Florida, and had a beautiful Christmas scene with wrapped boxes, sprigs of decorated pine, etc... and received many, many compliments. Some who were also northerners knew it was the LLBean sled. Then one copied me! High quality, wonderful item. My only hope is whoever has it now enjoys it.

Great fun for all
While sledding with our granddaughter, using a plastic sled, a young lady let us use her LL Bean toboggan that her in-laws had gotten about 15 years ago. It was a blast and worked great, so we got one for our granddaughter for Christmas (2013) and she loves it and has a ton of enjoyment using it with friends and parents. Ordering and delivery was excellent as is the toboggan. Sleds don't stand a chance against it!!

Stylish but NOT Sturdy
I recently purchased this toboggan as a present to myself. It's a very nice toboggan BUT the quality is not what I expected from L.L. Bean.
There's the possibility of a rush in orders for the recent holiday and winter season. I'm just going to assume that resulted in a rush in the construction process as well. I haven't used it yet (needs to be waxed) but will have another review about it's endurance after several slopes.
