A Serious Parka for Serious Cold
I bought this for hiking around western NY with my camera. It's exactly what I need: warm, water repellent, with pockets, inside and out, designed to protect whatever you put in them. I had it on the other day when the wind chill was 3F, and I was just fine, thanks. As I said in my review title: this is a serious parka for serious cold.

Excellent for Winter
Excellent quality, I exchanged XLarge for large. I’m 5’3” 127lbs. Great for Winter. Love the down tech in body, sleeves & hood. Two large pockets & 1 with zipper on inside. Outside large pockets. Velcro on sleeves to keep cold air out. I have a Baxter Parka from 2000’s which will still keep you warm. I’m allergic to wool so this is perfect for me.

This coat weighs a ton!
I had a Baxter State Parka back in 2011 that saw me through a -45 degree 4-month stay in Denali Park, Alaska. I received this version today, and right back it goes. It weighs a ton. Instead, I ordered the Mountain Classic Down Coat, Sherpa-Lined. I had recently ordered and returned the Sherpa coat because it runs big, so I ordered a size down today. It looks weird but it is light and very warm.

This coat is everything you would expect!
This coat is everything you would expect from L.L. Bean - the sleeves have a a long inner cuff to keep out the cold, the zipper goes both ways to allow for flexibility when sitting, there are pockets everywhere, there are two elastic bands - one along the bottom and one at the waist to cinch and keep out wind, the length is perfect to cover your bottom, the hood is roomy so it doesn't feel like it's pulling and can be removed, and it is so warm! I love it and wish I had bought it sooner for our Wisconsin winters.

Not waterproof/water resistant as marketed
I just bought this in red and was very excited about it because it is super cute and definitely a warm coat! However, I wore this at the summit on my Thanksgiving hike since it was a very wet and windy snow storm and the areas near the hood and chest seemed to 'leak' and wet through to my layers underneath - definitely not and ideal situation at over 4,000ft and in the elements :(

Overall great, some down shedding
As someone who lives in a very cold part of the country, I need a solid winter coat. Having something long enough to cover the tops of my thighs that is waterproof, with a hood with some fur to block the wind is ideal. This coat fits the bill. The good: The down keeps me comfortable in multiple temperatures and the hood helps to keep the cold wind at bay. The jacket has tons of pockets which is useful when out and about. It appears to be waterproof as advertised and dries quickly when in out of the wet. The bad: I'm a petite person but with a larger upper body so buy non-petite sizes for tops. The zipper on this is a little too low to be comfortable to zip, but that's more about me than the jacket. The jacket had a very chemical smell when it arrived that took a long time to disperse even after a gentle cycle in the wash. The worst thing I've found about this jacket is that small feathers are always on me after taking it off. My spouse and coworkers are often picking a few off of me, particularly if I'm wearing a sweater. That's why the 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise this is a great jacket for a very cold environment and likely will last a very long time.

GOOD QUALITY AND FIT WELL.
this coat is very warm and works well to keep the wind and rain away. like all the pockets including the one inside for my phone and/or keys. sized up so i could wear layers underneath without it being snug. the only complaint i have is that it took me a while to find the pull cords for the waist synch. they're in the upper outside pockets! i love my very toasty parka!
