Not Tropical Weight
The rating has to do with describing the pants a tropical weight than any defect in construction. What I received is, in my experience, more a late fall or mild winter weight pair of pants. A much heavier, less flexible, non-breathing fabric than I expected. On the positive side, the pants are well constructed to the standard you expect from LL Bean. I especially like the deep roomy pockets that make it all but impossible for my cell phone and other items to be left behind in the last easy chair I sat it.

Pockets carry cargo.
These are a great pair of pants. I bought them for work, I am a teacher. They are comfortable all day and don’t “cut or bind”. They are easy to take care of and they have wonderful pockets. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to be practical while wearing something other than jeans.

Tropic Weight Cargo Pants
This is my second purchase of Tropic Weight Cargo Pants. They are comfortable, but not durable. Both previous purchases ripped, faded,the pocket covers corner bends, and one lost the waist button. I hope these last longer. Not typical of L.L. Bean quality.

Not so good!
Well constructed pant and a good fit. But … the distressed look is not to our liking. After the initial washing ( before wearing) these pants looked very old and worn. Cannot recommend!

Even time I find a pair of pants I like, LL Bean discontinues them. I decided to try these and ordered them 36x32 Natural fit, grey. They came in as blue. The bag said grey, the tag attached to the belt loop said blue. I wear 36 waist pants; to get them buttoned I had to stretch the comfort waist almost all the way out. Without stretching them the button and the buttonhole were more than an inch apart. I think they are a mismarked 32 Waist. I can wear them, but they are a little tight. The quality and selection for LLBean pants seems to be going downhill.

Great pants
My husband wears these pants for work every day. Need to get him another pair. Still wish you carried the comfort waist, tropic weight plain fronts, the extra fabric from the cargo pockets makes them not as cool.

Material too heavy for tropic weight, baggy
They don't really feel tropical weight. The legs are too baggy, too big around. They might be fine for longer legs and a bigger waist, but they are like clown pants on my 32x29 size. They seem well made and all but their weight will be better in winter than summer and the baggy legs I'll just have to deal with.

Not true to size.
Ordered 42w/29i. Waist was maybe 40 and inseam 32 or 33. Fit great in seat and hips though. I returned them.

Favorite pants
Everything about these pants is great, except they are not available in my husband's size, 37". You offer odd sizes up to 36" and then head straight to 38". We wish you would change that. Needless to say, these pants are a little loose, but probably more comfortable than 36" would have been.

Defective color!
I bought these for my Husband and washed them. The pants looked like lightening hit them. There was strange streaks of white throughout the pant after washing the blue pair! I also bought a khaki pair that was fine in color after washing but for Tropic weight, they are still thick and stiff. My Husband does not like the khaki pair either! This is unusual as he has always liked pants I have ordered before.

These are not tropic-weight cargo pants, or at least the white pair I purchased were not. LL Bean used to have true tropic-weight cargo pants, with a very light but strong fabric. The current material is much heavier, even more than some "regular" weight pants I have.
