Not the same tropic weight pants
This is not the same tropic weight cargo shorts I have been buying for years. The fabric is totally different and the color is dark tan rather than light tan. It feels okay when wearing it and wrinkles less, otherwise I would have given it one star.

Nice Material
Nice material. Seems a bit heavy for a “tropic weight” material. The comfort waist does nothing for the fit. The expandable waist panels do not expand at all. I suggest you order your regular size or one size up and not depend on the expandable waist panels. I ordered my regular size and they should have been a bit loose but were a tad snug.

Tropic weight pants
Tropic weigh in the description suggests that these pants would be cooler than other fabrics. In my opinion, they aren’t; they are too heavy and do not breathe. Additionally, mine had the stretch waist which is supposed to offer some flexibility. I guess a quarter inch may satisfy some; I don’t share that view. Unlike other LL Bean pants with stretch waist, these were a big disappointment—I say big because I bought 3 pair.

I appreciate that the side pockets have actual buttons rather than snaps. I use these for traveling and I like the security of buttons.

Don't buy Weaing problems by you privates.
Don't buy wear problems in from of your privates. A Tailors defect and LL Bean will not honor, but they are building a New building, just like Insurance Company, don't pay a claim for a new addition.

Comfortable Pants, but Useless Cargo Pockets
I love the lightweight fabric in these pants. Very comfortable. Year-round! But the cargo pockets on the sides are a waste. Does anyone use them? Please, please bring back the version without the cargo pockets.

hole in pants from stiff end of fly material
I have purchased 8 of the tropic-weight cargo pants, some in comfort waist and some in regular waist. There is a defect in the fly material. Inside the pants, the piping at the bottom of the fly is hard and wears a hole in the pants.

Excellent for both every day and special occasions
Consistently excellent quality and fit. I’ve been buying these for my husband for decades. They are the only pants he prefers, as they can be dressed up with a blazer shirt and tie or casual with a Henley or a Sweater. The waist and length come in a good variety of sizes which for many years he was a 32, but now in our senior years he prefers a 36 comfort waist. They look nice with just wash & wear, but look super smart when ironed for special occasions.

Dye in fabric too easily washes out
Pants are nice, comfortable and fit well. Unfortunately, following the washing instructions results in dye missing on every folded edge of the fabric that touches the drum inside the clothes dryer. This results in a spiderweb appearance on the fabric that is somewhat disturbing.
