Poor quality
Poor quality feels really cheap.. really thin wool .. I've been buying from ll bean for 30plus years.. this product is way below what you would expect.. don't buy it... I just bought the 1920 throw back field coat w millerain cotton in Dec2024 and is a much better product more of what you would expect from llbean..

Proverbial bug
Wonderful blocks the wind,I ordered it one size larger to slip over shirts so it’s a little bigger it’s very cold this morning wind chill is around zero but I’m snug as the proverbial bug in a rug ,with a base layer,flannel lined shirt and anorak

I have been wearing this throughout Minnesota's fall season and found it to be just okay down into the 30s, assuming there isn't much wind.
My main issue is that the wool is thin and doesn't seem to be particularly high quality. This is particularly obvious with regards to the hood, which has no lining. To me, a good anorak is defined by a good hood. This cannot be a good anorak as it does not have a good hood. It is just a flimsy lightweight piece of wool. I hope someday that LL Bean will make a better version of this because I like the fit and I like the idea of it.
Also, the claim of it being silent is perhaps misleading. Wool as a fabric is silent however the primaloft lining makes it sound like you're wearing a diaper.

Good but not great
I like it. But I wanted to love. It would be better if the wool used was a heavier weight. Especially the hood. Good for layering.

It’s a keeper
Debated on ordering a medium or a large. Decided on medium and am pleased with fit. I tried a Bean commando sweater underneath and still had a little room. For reference, I’m 5’8 and 170 lbs. I like the lining- makes for easy on/ easy off. The zippered pocket is great. I think this is a nice addition to any cold weather wardrobe
