Ruined the design
Way to go LL Bean - you had a good looking pant but instead of simply selling it, you paid someone to redesign it and now it has a sew line across the thighs that makes it look like a cheap convertible that unzips to shorts. No thanks!

Disappointed with new design
I loved the old design & had purchased numerous pairs of Riverton. Was disappointed to receive the new version and find that some designer decided to move the cell phone pocket from the right to the left side. Only a small percentage of the population is left handed… was the designer a lefty?! Thanks to muscle memory, when I put on an old classic pair of Riverton, I’m looking for a phone pocket that isn’t there! Plus, the small left hand zip pocket (that you’ve removed) was my go to storage space for travel… small wallet, cash etc.. Who needs a giant zip pocket on the rear end?! Not many I know carry a huge wallet back there anymore… bad for the back. Please bring back the original design!

Bring Back the Original Riverton Pants
The original Riverton pant have been my go to pant for years. The 36W/30L fit me like a glove and I absolutely love them.
Two weeks ago, I bought the updated version of these pants, and I couldn't be more disappointed with the fit. I purchased the Peppercorn and Toasted Coconut colors in size 36W/30L. The Peppercorn pair was about an inch too big in the waist, while the Toasted Coconut was a bit tight. How does that happen?
The overall fit and look of the pants isn't as comfortable or stylish as the original design. I don't understand why apparel companies feel the need to change something that was already successful. I realize that marketing teams want to make their presence known and justify their roles, but changes like these often have the opposite effect—long-time buyers like myself end up abandoning the style and switching to a competitor.
Please bring back the origin design, it was a winner!

Why did they change the pockets?
I have loved these pants for several years. Ordered another two pair , but hated the change in the pockets, so I returned them. Used to love the side pocket that was zippered on the original style, and the side sleeve pocket that held my cell phone. The new style changed those pockets. Now the back pockets have the zippers, and I never use back pockets. I miss the original style.

Disappointed with the changes
I don’t know who needs a rear pocket behind another rear pocket… I am experienced in the trail and that makes no sense. Also, this was the only pant I wore to work and socially. Throughout the years, I’ve noticed that regardless of size, they vary in “actual” size. These ones are no different. I will hold on to these to see how they perform, but will not buy any more until I evaluate them.

Bring back older style of Riverton Pants
The new pants no longer have secure rear pockets with flap closer. No cell phone pockets. And always preferred the standard fit. I’ve cancelled my LL Bean visa as I feel LL Bean has drifted out of touch with functional utility clothing for regular folks with money and common sense. I would like to come back. Riverton Pants had a nice run for years I have tan, green, brown unlined and lined pants I’ve used for years hiking, work, and travels globally. It’s a shame.

Glad I read the Reviews Firsy
I've owned several pairs of these rugged and durable pants. They were wearing out, so I came online to order one or two new pairs. I'm so glad I read the reviews first, as I would not have been aware of some of the changes in the design/quality (on first glance, the only difference i noted was the absence of the flap pockets). I loved the old style and am holding off on purchasing in the hope that Bean will bring the old style back.
