Fit is Great
I thought the material would be pretty similar to Bean’s “stretch canvas”, which I love. Sadly, it is not. The fit is great, the color is fine, but I really don’t like the material. It’s a very soft cotton that looks great when you first put them on after washing & drying. But after a few hours, they lose their shape — the material is very soft and has NO crispness. The stretch canvas is a much better material, holds its shape, looks nice after hours of wear and even 2 or 3 days of wear. But stretch canvas is apparently no longer available. And I do not recommend pants made in “comfort stretch”.

Too heavy
I used to always buy the L.L. Bean Vista shorts. Sadly, they seem to have been discontinued. I got these as a replacement. The front cargo pockets are not very deep. It might barely fit a phone as long as it is not a big one. The pockets do snapshot, but I would’ve felt better with zipper pockets like the old Vista shorts. The side pockets are also very shallow. Cargo shorts are used for holding a lot of items. I don’t feel like I would be able to securely hold many items. There are no pockets in the back. The material is also heavier than many other shorts. Sadly, I will be returning them.

Pictures are deceptive, legs are flared
The model is clearly hiding how wide the legs are with her fingertips and the picture hides this as well. If the model looks better holding them down, wouldn't the rest of us? They are made well and I like the length. I hate the flare but they don't look bad just a little unnecessarily dowdy. I needed some sturdy shorts to hike with my dog and these fit the bill but I wouldn't feel great in them wearing them out. They are serviceable but not very 'cute'. To bad because they could have been both. I'd have given 4 stars but I don't like the deception.

Comfortable fabric and well made
I like the design and they are very well made. Pockets are a nice size. Waist is a little bit big but I can live with it. Really like the 7 in inseam.

Great Summer Addition
I bought the olive in these shorts. The color is good and the material. I love that the pockets flat so I get the look of a cargo short but it's not bulky.

Great shorts
In bought these shorts a couple of weeks ago. I love them. They fit well and look nice. My only complaint is that the waist stretches out a bit, but as long as you know that, it is not a big deal. They washed and dried well. They did not shrink. I bought them in another color, because I liked them so much. I highly recommend them.

I had purchased a similar style short from Bean a few years ago. I like this pair of shorts much more. The fabric is softer! Great shorts.
