Hiking Boots
Very comfortable right out of the box, but I had to order the next size up to wear med weight hiking socks. Did not give 4 stars because I have not had a chance to do some serious trails with them so don't know how they will hold up. Sure wish they had top hooks for lacing. Very nice looking. Hope they perform as expected.

Great Hiker. I bought my regular size and I do wear them with socks, although not the heavy wool ones. They were ready to go right out of the box with no break-in time. I wear them a lot running errands or just going for a walk.

Excellent travel boots
I bought these for a trip to rainy Scotland and these were perfect on slippery cobblestones, comfortable for 10+ miles of daily walking, and my feet stayed dry.

Love the boots!
Love these boots! The fit is perfect- I like the roominess in the toe box, the width is perfect and they are almost ready to wear broken in. I am wearing around house first, but they feel great! I love the maroon/mauve color and even the feel of the boots! I had a hard time narrowing down a pair to purchase but happy I chose these! So far so good! My only Wish is that LLBean includes an extra pair laces- like they used to yrs ago!

Attractive boot - but fits a bit snug
I like the boot overall, and it is attractive. It fits a big snug so I do have to wear thinner socks. It's not really a boot for warmth, but I think my feet will stay warm enough if I am hiking. I haven't tested it in the snow, mud, or water yet. If you want to wear thicker socks, order a half size up.

I love these boots yet need an addition
These boots fit my feet beautifully except I needed to add arch support for my high arches. Otherwise they have been perfect for my repeated many-hours-long outings. So far I've not been to the mountains, rather I've used them exclusively for urban hiking. I especially enjoy the wider-than-in-many-shoes toe area (so comfortable for my toes), and flexibility of the sole (allowing lots of range of motion of my foot and ankle), as well as the comfortable and supportive ankle collar. I bought these the afternoon after I went outside on a first rain day after a long dry spell and on a steep black-top incline my feet flew out from under me. These boots are the perfect antidote to that kind of slipperiness. I've had them 6 months, Oct-March. I would buy them again without hesitation. I selected 4 staart rather than 5 because I needed more arch support, which I recognize everyone would not need.

I ordered these based on reviews on looking for a supportive, light hiking boot. These boots exceded my expectations! Believe the reviews; these are light and supportive. They have ample forefoot room for toe spread. The ankle is not too high, which is nice. Some ankle boots are more bothersome than others, but these are comfy. To top it off, these are nice looking boots-not clunky. Kind of like a leather tennis shoe. I do agree with one reviewer, I wish the ankle had hooks for lace tightening instead of just regular lace holes. It would keep the laces tighter longer, but it is not a game changer. I wear a size 9 normally in boots and athletic shoes, and a 9 was perfect in these.

AWESOME BOOTS!! I wear a 10.5. 11 was too big so I bought a size 10 and had them stretched at a cobbler. I also used my own orthotics — so yes, I guess doctored them up a little. BUT they are so lightweight and ENTIRELY waterproof. I hiked for six days in driving rain in these boots and they stayed bone dry. I absolutely love them and I never want to own a different pair of hiking boots again!

Too small, too, narrow, unlike the pictures
My faithful hikers finally gave up the ghost after eight years of wearing them. I have been looking for a good pair of hikers for months, and came across these. I like the style and based on the pictures they looked like they would fit my slightly wide feet, Although they did not have a size wide as an option. As soon as I put them on, I realize they were too narrow and too short. Even looking at them from a top view, you can see how wickedly narrow they appear. How many people do you know have a size 10 narrow? Inconceivable.
I returned them, and was unable to re-order because they did not have a size 10 1/2 and/or a size wide. I ultimately bought from a different retailer, in a size 10, which was not wide either and it fit like a glove. Why can’t manufacturers just actually make everything to a standard size?? A question for the ages.

Ticks all the boxes!
Super comfortable and just-right cute! And what’s more for me, I need a very certain kind of arch below the toes and a not-too-narrow toe area due to painful neuromas. Online shopping is a risk for me but these give the ideal kind of support for my condition. Yay!

Great boot
Really love this shoe. It fits comfortable right out of the box. I need a wider toe box and my feet have plenty of room to spread out. They are retro in style with out being too dated looking. It's perfect design for me. The leather holds up and ages really well. My only critique is the shoe laces slide too easily so it's tricky to get a snug tie in the top 3 loops. I find myself wishing the had more traditional hooks to link the laces through. I have low top version of these hikers too. In both models, I have to retie my shoes often when wearing them for work on my farm. But otherwise these are a great boot!

Worked for short hikes in a pinch
Realized we forgot to grab my hiking boots on our way to Acadia and popped into the Freeport store to find some hiking boots I could use right out of the box for our trip. These shoes proved to be very comfortable right out of the box, and I didn't get any blisters going on some 3- to 4-mile hikes without having time to break the boots in. I will say that my feet did ache more than I thought they would with shorter hikes like these, so in the future I'm going to replace the insoles to try and prevent this. But they gripped quite well onto wet and dry granite, and they seemed to stay dry as I tried my best to avoid mud puddles. Maybe they're not the best for hikes that are more on the moderate side, but I'm looking forward to using them more casually and for travel, as the wine color is very cute. Thanks, LL Bean, for helping me out in a pinch!

What's not to love?
I just received these boots and they fit perfectly right out of the box. I am always a size 6.5, bought these in a 6.5 and they are true to size. I hike rugged trails in Arizona and needed some more support around my ankle. These hug my ankle nicely without being too high or hitting my ankle bone. They are comfortable, supportive, they have rugged soles that will give me traction on slippery, rocky slopes, look very nice, and have good laces that actually hold when tied. Color is as shown on line (I bought the brown) and the leather is soft but substantial. I have plenty of room in the toe box and don't feel any "hot spots" where the shoe rubs my foot. Overall, I am very pleased with these boot and would recommend.

Definitely buy these shoes!!
Wore these in constant rain and on major mountains and they kept my feet dry and protected! The comfiest boots I’ve ever worn and I would recommend them to anyone. I chose to get 8.5 when I typically wear an 8 so I could wear thicker socks with the boots. If you’re in between sizes I would size up.

Perfect for Glacier National Park
I thru hiked the Appalachian Trail back in 2011, and I am a big fan of trail runners (sneakers) for hiking. Boots are too heavy/clunky/hot and 9 times out of 10 they are overkill. Well we were heading for Montana for our elopement and I decided to give boots a try again. Wow these boots are light and so comfortable! Never broke them in and hiked 60 miles in 5 days without blisters or issues. Highly recommend! Wish they came in 11.5.

Perfect for walking around the city or trails!
I’m a big flip flop fan, so having something around my ankle bothers me. These shoes are so comfortable, it’s like a cloud. The top hugs around your ankle just enough for some support. I would definitely recommend crew socks with these to avoid irritation. These can handle lots of rain, just not walking through a stream.

I like them!
It did take about a week or two of wearing for my feet to be totally comfortable in these. The problem was mostly my ankles being sensitive so I tied them loosely to start and now I can just tie them normally with no problems. I'm glad that I persisted and was patient. I did add a thin type of foot pad since my older feet have very little cushioning left on the soles. Now walking in them is quite enjoyable and I feel as though they've added a bit of bounce to my step.

Cute boot, runs small
I got the brown boots - they are nice looking, not too clunky. They run small though. I'm a size 9. I'm returning and ordering both a 9.5 and 10.
