Snaps for the Win!!
Finally a vest without zippers! Snaps are way better, easier to use and more functional. Fabric is great, the down insulation is fantastic. Vest is super warm, another high quality product from LLBean. My last LLBean vest with snaps is over 15 years old, so I was definitely in need of an upgrade!

The Good and the Bad.
I like that they are trying to recreate this vest to match the one I got in the 90's (I still wear the old one daily) There are several things I didnt like about this vest:
Its Unisex sizing so I got the small but it was a little tight in the hips- the medium would have been too big
The buttons are on the "man" side which I guess is going to make 50% of the people happy.
There is an inner pocket that is there to shove the vest into when youre not wearing it. It was bulky and I always felt like I had something in my pocket.
Didnt love the writing on the liner it could just be plain black and that would be fine. No need to advertise for LLBean. Also the liner wasnt as slidey as I would like. I have returned the vest. I feel like this vest might be better labelled as a mans and I would recommend it with provisions :)

Mixed feelings about vest
I love the loft and warmth but it needs a zipper in addition to the snaps to seal out the cold, especially since they are hard to close. Not having inside pockets is a minus too, just a tiny stow sack where a pocket should be. Finally the outside pockets should have access from the sides, not the top.

I still have mine from 1996
I check every year to see if there are feather down vests with snaps not zippers. Zippers never fold right on jackets. I am surprised that LL Bean has finally brought this vest back. However, I am going to pass because they put the LL Bean insignia on the chest area. The original one does not have this. It ruins the look. Make it w/o the insignia and I bet it will out sell the one with.

got the large and great fit for me, 5-11, 210lb, the extra long back is wonderful. Snaps are ok, would prefer zipper to retain more heat. Yes,recommended.
