classic, high quality staple
This sweater is exactly what I needed. I am so tired of sweaters that look great for a short time, but are essentially made out of plastic (aka polyester, elastane, polyamide, etc.). This is a classic wool sweater I know I'll have for years to come.

Iconic but …
The iconic Bean pattern in a wider short fit. What could go wrong?
The weird shoulder “points”.
The design attaches sleeve to body of sweater in such a way that it does not conform with the silhouette, but juts out like wings.
If you can get past this oddity of modern mass production - the sweater is a heavy weight rag wool icon.

Perfect version of the classic!
Very soft lambswool, non scratchy, and warm but not too warm. This is substantial but not as heavy as some other wool sweaters from Bean (including previous versions of this design). I love it with sporty stripes on the ribbing. Made in Jordan, not China! Fit of this sweater is in line with the measurements of the LL Bean size guide- I’m usually a size 6 and the small fits well through the body, shoulders, and arms.

It’s pretty but it shrinks.
I have several wool pieces from LL Bean. This sweater in particular shrunk probably three sizes, to the point that I could barely get it over my head. I’ve never had this issue with other wool sweaters. I washed in cold and hung to dry, and it still shrunk terribly. For the price, and being marketed to the general public, it should be easier to maintain.
