Should Have Read The Description
Not water resistant and zipper isn't two-way making it hard to sit without unzipping or hiking up the jacket

Nice cool-weather jacket
I bought this a year ago to replace a vintage Army field jacket. Between the stow-away hood, 4+1 pockets, and color options, it seemed like a great option. Plus the insulation and water resistance make it more versatile. And it is a great jacket, perfect for fall, early spring, and parts of winter. With an extra layer it'll stand up to sub-zero temperatures.
The fit is so-so. There are two features they could alter to make it better. Add a drawstring at the waist, and move the zipper so it starts at the waist rather than the bottom of the jacket. I miss these features from the field jacket, and they are available on the Baxter State and Maine Warden parkas. The drawstring helps keep out wind and provides a more fitted look, moving the zipper to the waist makes it easier to sit while keeping the jacket zipped-up.

Proven winner.
Very pleased with this jacket. Just spent two weeks in Ireland where the weather lives up to its reputation of being changeable daily. Temps 40 - 65 most days with frequent damp and light rains, this jacket did the trick. Not for downpours, but as a go to travel jacket with multiple secure pockets, for weather from mild to heavy winds and brisk pre-winter chills, it’s a must for the outdoors traveler as well as for a quick run to the stores.

Unflattering cut. Did I get a lemon?
There is a lot to like about this jacket. The fabric seemed nice and there were plenty of pockets. However, the cut of the jacket was very odd and looked terrible. I have to wonder if I got a lemon or something. The bottom of the jacket was cut so that it slanted upwards from the back to the front and kid of ballooned out in the stomach area. I'm not sure who this could look good on, but certainly not me. I returned it and ended up buying the Bean softshell jacket, which was a great fit.

Expensive jacket Hype
The jacket is much TOO THIN and could be much more THICKER and can still be not bulky but warm. This jacket is restricted to early Autumn season wear and could be layered, but how many garments do you want to draped over your body? Because then you will look bulky for sure, how ironic to avoid the bulkiness.

Size, fit, quality.
I like the jacket, although at 6'2" and 200 lbs it's not a perfect fit. I really liked the look of it and its features online. But unfortunately my LL Bean store didn't carry it so I had to order it online. I'm a perfect 44L and I wear Large LL Bean button down shirts, but the L was too tight in the shoulders and too tight and short in the arms (although I liked the fit around the waist) so I returned it and ordered a XL. The XL fits well in the arms and shoulders but is too big around the waist. So I seem to be in between the two sizes. I thought about ordering the L Tall, but that just adds length, which I didn't need or want. I'm also a little disappointed that the hand pockets aren't lined. They're pretty flimsy and not comfortable. Also, the inside pocket zipper is too close to the main zipper, so it's hard to get to. Overall though I like the coat and kept the XL. Hope that helps.

Tight around shoulders
Well made good around waist and length of arms. Bought a size larger than usual; however, used as a car coat the coat is still tight around the shoulders when driving.
