Our original SunSmart™ apparel, Tropicwear was first introduced in 1992 to protect destination anglers from the hot tropical sun. Customers quickly discovered Tropicwear wasn't just for fishing, using it for just about anything outdoors. It's been updated with a better fit, new stretch woven fabric that's softer and better ventilation. Best of all, Tropicwear still provides UPF 50+ sun protection, or about 10 times more than a white cotton tee.

Multi level shirt for all occasions
A very nice shirt!!! Wear it alone or over a tank or tee. The UPF 50+ protection is the plus for this shirt. Lastly, the fabric just plain feels good on your skin. Thank you for a great shirt.

Not as comfortable as I hoped
I really liked the color of the shirt (purple). However I found the material too scratchy, especially the collar. I felt the shirt was too warm to wear over a tank top in summer which is what I was looking for.

Hike comfortably in warm weather
I bought this shirt in the blue and lilac colors primarily for hiking in warm weather. As one who sweats a lot in this humid weather, I found they kept me cool and comfortable even though I thought the heavier weave would be warm. I was wrong. Fit was spot on and flattering, and I hope they keep the lilac, but add more colors in the future.

Nice subtle look for every day
Was looking for some new items for summer and seriously considered this…but I’m more of a relaxed fit person and while this was great , I ultimately went with another Bean shirt instead. However..you won’t regret buying this!

Disappointed with fit.
Purchased petite small but doesn’t fit like a petite should. Shoulders are too wide, under arm fit is too low, and way too baggy overall.

Light and breezy
The purple on this shirt is pale. The fabric is lightweight and almost like crepe. It has a side hip zipper pocket for a key or credit card, which is nice but also adds a stiffness there which makes me avoid tucking the shirt in as in the nice model photo. The fit seems accurate. I always get a women's large at Bean. I like that the styling is modest yet lightly fitted in cut so as not to look baggy.

Work Shirt for Florida
Bought this for work. Things I like: loose shoulder area for ease of arm movements, fabric, venting on back. Con.s: price is rather high; the hidden back pocket located on the left side, rear area. This pocket is tricky to access. I don’t understand why it exists. Please eliminate it and lower the price.

Perfect for riding!
I had been searching for the perfect shirt to keep me cool with sun protection at the barn and during horseback riding. This is it! I have them in both long and short sleeve and I wish I could buy every color! Just enough stretch and I love the way it comes down long enough to keep my stomach covered when I'm saddling up! I've found its also great for ATVing here in the hot southwest!

I love this shirt. It’s so comfortable with the inside light weight mesh that lets this shirt breathe. The colors are great for a sunny summer day. This shirt keeps me cool and protects me too! Problem with collar
I like the color and material but this is the second LLBean hot weather shirt (first was seersucker shirt) that I have a problem with the collar. What's with LLBean collars on women plus 2x shirts??? They don't lay right and need ironing.

It's a Shirt Not a Billboard!
I deducted a star due to the blatant L. L. Bean logo displayed on the shirt. I pay for an excellent quality shirt not the advertising. The shirt is lightweight, comfortable, safe in the sun and stylish.
