Our original SunSmart™ apparel, Tropicwear was first introduced in 1992 to protect destination anglers from the hot tropical sun. It's been updated with a better fit, new stretch woven fabric that's softer and better ventilation. Best of all, Tropicwear still provides UPF 50+ sun protection, or about 10 times more than a white cotton tee.

Great for travel!
I have 3 of these shirts, which I took on vacation. The pockets held things like sunglasses, ear bud case, and wallet (to resist pick pocketers), without the shirt looking lumpy from having so much stuff in there. The zip pocket kept our passports secure. The fabric was comfortable and dried fast after washing in a hotel sink.

Not the Quality LL Bean is Known for
As a life long LL Bean customer, where quality has been it's trademark, it appears to me that it has become a retailer where you pay more and get less.
The Tropicwear shirt is primarily Polyester (Cheaper) and not Nylon. It feels slick like "Disco" wear not LL Bean outdoor/fishing wear. It it's construction and stitching looks and feels like a discount knockoff of what LL Bean used to be. This is not the first time has occurred but appears be a trend in its short sited path to profit.

A Big Step Down
I bought this shirt maybe 3 years ago in blue, the fit &
Style, the fabric was excellent. This offer was garbage in comparison. It’s much smaller in fit and cheap fabric.
I spent all my Bean Bucks on this poor excuse of the original. Shame on you Bean. Inexcusable! It’s being returned, and no doubt it will take almost three weeks to get a refund.

Very Nice Hot Weather Shirt
I have many Bean shirts, but I'm a first-time buyer of this one. Contrary to some grousing by other posters on the slimmer cut, I like it for this type of shirt. I also like the feel of the material. The back vents are a nice touch. I'll be buying a couple more of these

Nice material, but a little too tight
Great material and nice shirt, but medium was to tight. I am 6’1 175 and frequent the gym. The medium just fit a little too tight and didn’t feel like the old model which was perfect for me in medium. Returning and will try a size up.

I like guide shirts for travel for the secure pockets. This one has nice Velcro pockets and a secure zip pocket for credit cards/cash. It also looks better out of the suitcase than others I have.

COOLEST, MOST COMFORTABLE SHIRT FOR HOT WEATHER!
I love this shirt! I have purchased two so far and very well may purchase a third. I also purchased one as a gift. We live in Florida and this is the coolest, most comfortable shirt we have found so far. Hopefully, Bean will even add some additional colors. I would love a pale yellow!

Miss the former tropicwear shirt
My husband loved the old style of this shirt. Ordered the new one in white as the cream color is no longer an option. The shirt is thinner material and just not the same. Wish I would have stocked up on the previous tropicwear shirt for him :(

Summer comfort
I have been buying these shirts for years they wash & dry well comfortable to wear love the colors the new ones are tapered more so there’s a slimmer look to them but still fit fine I like the stitching on the sleeve it adds to the look I would recommend goes nice with jeans and shorts.
