Love this Blackwatch Plaid Quilt

Smells Musty, Hard to Wash, Fabric Like Flannel
The quilt smelled musty when we got it, the way towels do after sitting for years in a basement or attic. That was weird, especially since it looked brand new in the packaging. We washed it but that did not get the smell out. We are trying every odor remover there is, but so far after 4 washes no luck.
Regarding machine washing: We got a King size and the instructions say to wash it in a front loading commercial washer...that was not disclosed on the product description and we do not have access to that kind of washer. Crossing my fingers it can survive washes in our top loading machine.
Lastly, I didn't know what kind of cotton fabric it would be - the plaid pattern made me think of flannel but the fact that it's a quilt made me hope it might be a crisp percale. Turns out it's more soft/napped and coarse than it is smooth or crisp like percale, so if that's important to you, now you know.
It's not a bad quilt, aside from that musty-towels odor, and overall not what we expected. I would have appreciated knowing we might not be able to wash it in our home machine, and that it was a rough versus smooth fabric. The quilt label also said it is 280 GSM, for anyone who needs to know.

Classy Quilt!
Beautiful quilt! I am pretty happy with its quality. It is very roomy as well it has plenty of room and hangs over the sides of the bed.
It has kind of a stiffness to it that I like very much. I have LL bean fleece sheets as well, and with this quilt, When I climb into bed at night i feel luxurious.

My LLBEAN plaid quilt sets
Nice fabric and thickness, good for Fall—Winter and Spring! My son did some work on our house. He checked all my quilts and comforters. I said he could one in addition to the payment for his work.
