So THIS is what winter boots are supposed to be!
I bought these last year and was super impressed with how warm they are—even in well below freezing weather, my toes stayed perfectly warm. The snow storm this past week gave me my first opportunity to try them out in snow, and I am now even more impressed. I spent 30-60 minutes at a time walking through ankle high snow drifts with my snow loving dog, and my feet stayed completely warm and dry. Seriously, these things are remarkable.

Best boots ever
I was hesitant to purchase these boots but so happy I did. I did go up a half size. I hike every day in northeast. The boots are very warm and somewhat structured in a good way. Right out of the box I went for a hike and they are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned. Highly recommended.

Great boot for MN winter
To start off, I have an older version of this boot (7-10 years ago) and I dearly love them. They are just wearing out The quality of the boot is excellent as is the warmth for a MN winter. However it's design is not very feminine. I can't readily tell my boots from my husband's boots. The older version of this boot had much better color selections and made the ladies version of the boot much more distinguishable. {Hence the 4 stars.} I will be returning them for this reason. Maybe next year I can get the great LL Bean warmth and light weight feel in a more suitable design.

Nice features...but...
Nice boot, however...Too small, length and width. I wear a 7 and ordered an 8. Way too small, actually even without socks the boot was too small. I sent them back.

Size was off
I loved the look of the boot I normally wear a 9.5 shoes , so I ordered a size 10 after the reviews , but it was too narrow. So I’m returning them and ordering a 10.5 , hopefully this rectifies the situation . D. Watterson

Lightweight, warm
This is my third winter with these boots and I have to say, they are well worth the cost. These boots have great grip on the snow and ice. They are by far the warmest boots I’ve ever had. My feet are still warm after being outside on our farm for hours. They are durable while cleaning stalls, hiking the trails- even the historic flooding we had last year kept my feet dry. Finally, these boots are water proof which is a necessity here in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Toasty feet in these light boots!
Insulated Challenger Boots, these fit the bill for a late spring hike which required snowshoes. I struggle to find highly insulated boots with a narrow fit and a wide toe box that are also not heavy. I purchased these specifically for this hike and didn't break them in beforehand. This is generally a hard-no for me but I couldn't pass up the hike, so I just went for it. These were so comfortable from the moment I tried them on. I paired them with a medium weight hiking sock and my feet were plenty warm all day and into the evening. I had not a single blister or irritated area which I found amazing since I generally have at least some irritation breaking in new boots. We spent almost 2 hours on a cold and windy exposed summit and my feet were toasty the entire time. I cannot recommend these enough for a comfortable well priced extremely warm winter hiking boot!

Toasty Boots for Cold Weather Adventures
Very warm boots without the bulk of a pac boot. Vibram soles have great traction and also work well with traction devices. Comfortable right out of the box and onto my snowshoes!

A very warm boot
My husband and I were going on vacation in February to Hokkaido to see the snow festival. He asked if I needed new boots. At first I said no so he ordered his and then he showed me the rating as "warmest". I then looked at the boots, thought they looked good and told him to order me a pair. I am so glad he did. The boots kept my feet nice and warm and I could feel the difference in traction from my old shoes. It got really cold and it snowed but if you want to keep your feet happy then you should get a pair of these. Looking forward to more cold adventures.

A good purchase.
This boot is excellent. They were purchased for a winter trip to a National Park in the West.
It is warm, well-constructed (like all LLBean products, imo), and well- designed. But, this opinion was not my first: the sole was quite stiff and only became comfortable after 4-5 hours of wear. Also, my ankles were quite bruised feeling after that initial wearing, and these boots do best with loose lacing around the ankle. As well, toes do get cold, but I think this is because no boot can retain warmth if there is little or no warmth to be retained. Glad I purchased them.

Warm boots for out door work.
Excellent boot. Roomy and comfortable. Tow box on the wider side which I love. Work outside in N.E. 8 hour shifts. These have kept me warm all winter and were supportive and comfortable on a winter hike with micro spikes.

Best Boots Ever!
I purchased these boots for a trip to Iceland in January. After two days of hiking on glaciers and exploring ice caves in very cold and windy weather, my feet were still warm. One pair of good socks was plenty and I only wore these twice before leaving on the trip. Breaking them in was not an issue at all - they were very comfortable right from the start. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Just what I wanted
I bought these in December and have worn them several times. I bought size 8.5 and only wear a liner sock with them. They are comfortable, easy to walk in, and warm. The coldest temp I've worn them in was 8° F but I expect them to keep my feet warm in even colder weather. Good job, LL Bean!

Winter hiking boot
I’ve had these boots for about a year now. These boots are durable, warm, water/mud proof and most importantly comfortable. We have a farm on 270 acres in vermont. These boots go through mud, woods, dirt roads, rocks and maintain their comfort and grip. It tends to get slippery at times up here but I never worry when I’m wearing these boots. Anyone who’s lived through a mud season knows how important water proof is to footwear. These definitely have that covered.

Too stiff and heavy
I returned this boot as it was much too high, stiff, and heavy for dog walking. Perhaps it would work for hiking and for someone who is stronger. I bought the snow sneakers instead which are a perfect height and weight for dog walks and running around town.

Happy with the purchase
They have served me well in the three months I've had them. The Medium fit was, thankfully, snugger than many boots are for my thin and narrow feet, and there is a decent amount of sole cushion support (I also inserted a second footbed for both added shock support and a snugger fit). They seem to be very well made and they have proved waterproof for any of the snow, slush and mud I have put them through so far. A minor improvement might be to have the top set of lace hooks a little lower, relative to the top off the tongue, than they are. Occasionally the lace wants to jump the tongue as it is now. But overall very happy and would definitely recommend. Best winter walking/hiking boots I have had.

Serious boots for cold weather wear
These are high quality boots for protection from the cold. I found them to be too rigid and bulky for my intended purpose, winter walks and hikes. I returned them and replaced them with the Storm Chaser boots and those are working out well.

Ok. The overall quality is nowhere near what we used to expect from Bean's. These feel cheap and not worthy of their price. And these were the best option.

Sturdy, comfortable boot
Sturdy, comfortable boot from first wearing. Extremely warm during my 2-week stay in Iceland. They did not keep me from slipping however on ice or slushy surfaces. I needed to add crampons and then I was good to go.

Best boot ever.
I bought these about a month ago and have worn them snow shoeing and to an all-day outdoor party. These kept my feet much warmer than my Joan of Arc Sorels - or any boot I have ever worn. They are extremely comfortable and support my weak ankles. I will never have to buy another winter boot again.

Give all your other winter boots, The Boot!!
I have horses and spend most of everyday on my feet working in the barn. I don’t deal with a lot of snow and ice, but we do have a lot of rain. I fell in love with these boots the minute I put them on. I wore them for the whole day, and I am standing and moving most of the day. They are very comfortable, are waterproof, and have the insulation which in the cold in our barn, is great. They do run true to size. I wear a size 9 which is what I bought. On my next pair, I will probably buy a 91/2 so I can wear my heavier winter socks with them. I would highly recommend them. I could not be happier.

Best for winter hiking!
My job requires me hiking 8-10 hours a day in all weather conditions up and down mountains- not once have I suffered a cold toe with these boots. Even if I somehow drench it in water, it is very difficult to get them fully wet and even if they get wet, they keep your feet warm. Order a size up if you want to wear thick socks with them.
