Our twist on a classic, with authentic cable designs from the Aran Islands. This updated boyfriend sweater is made from crispy washed cotton yarns that are substantial and reach further into the seasons than traditional wool.
We chose densely-knit cotton yarns to give our cable sweater three-season appeal. It's more relaxed than traditional fisherman sweaters, offering supreme comfort and easygoing style.

Cozy and a Little Elegant
Fantastic sweater with unique details in the knit! Looks dressy with nice slacks but also perfect with jeans. Warm but seems to breath so you don’t feel too hot when indoors. Looking to buy another color

Wonderful...at first
My MIL got it for me as an Xmas gift. It was as beautiful! The sweater's knit pattern and color were gorgeous, and it fit perfectly. It was a little snug out of the box, but a couple of hours into wearing it, it loosened up. I wore it a handful of times before I washed it. And that's when it fell apart. I took it out of the wash and there was a 1-inch hole in the right sleeve. :( So disappointed. I loved this sweater so much...thought LL Bean quality was better than that.

Fantastic sweater. I get compliments all the time. I love the washed out blue jean look, I wear it with a tied dyed flannel underneath. I like to wear my sweaters large and cozy with no restricting feeling. It is substantial heavy weight which I love!!!

I love it! I thought it looked short in the pictures, but then saw other reviews said it was long, so I ordered it. It is definitely not short. It is warm. I still put a long sleeve tee under it when it is really cold, but I do that with all of my sweaters. I have gotten so many compliments on it too!

Beautiful sweater but requires maintenance.
This sweater is very classy looking. The color is very subtle, as I am not a purple person, but love this soft color. I am 5' 2 1/2" and weight 118lbs. I didn't give it 5 stars because the neck is very tight to get over my head, which is not unusually big. I try to stretch to strech it out a little after I wash it. Also when you wash this sweater you have to lay it flat. It is a heavier weave sweater and it takes a while for it to dry. I put it on a towel and flip the sweater and change towels because I don't want the sweater to get moldy smelling while it dries. This probably isn't really necessary, but it takes a whole day to dry. So be aware this sweater comes with a little maintenance. Also my first sweater had a little unraveling on one of the sleeves which I wanted to nib it the bud so I could wear it for years. They immediately replaced it and shipping both ways is free if you have an LL Bean Mastercard. (Great deal!) To me, the sweater is worth the extra care as it is not real long and has a nice fit to it. (Kind of how sweaters used to be.) It sits a little closer to the body but doesn't cling and doesn't show rolls. It is mid butt length. I do get alot of compliments when I wear it.

Poor Quality Yarn
#1. My closet if filled with L.L. Bean clothing. So, I know the quality of L.L. Bean products and what to expect regarding fit from L.L. Bean.
#2. I knit a LOT. So, I know about yarn and knitted sweater construction.
This should be a great, casual sweater. The cabling and the two toned colors are beautiful. It is a heavier weight cotton yarn, so while it isn't as warm as wool it has more heft than a typical, lightweight cotton sweater. Unfortunately, I had the same problem as another reviewer. The yarn from which this sweater is knit, is such poor quality that the fibers have broken in random places resulting in little threads sticking out all over the place. Because the sweater is so pretty, I have taken the time to pull the little threads to the inside and woven them into the stitches. For now, the little threads are no longer visible on the outside. I fear however, that this breakage may result in the formation of holes in the future, dramatically shortening the life expectancy of this sweater. I am keeping the sweater for now and will see how it holds up to washing. Very, very disappointing. Not at all up to L.L. Bean standards.

Too long!
I've lusted after one of these sweaters for years and finally decided to indulge myself. I ordered a Small, which fit me fine in terms of shoulders, bust, and waist. I loved the texture and the faded blue color. The problem is the length of the sweater: it goes down, down, down, in a shapeless manner. there is no elasticity to the fabric, so there's no way to tuck it up so that it will stay tucked. I don't understand why the sweater is made with such excessive length. I also don't understand how the photo included on the website can show (as it does) the sweater fitting in an almost cropped fashion, with the bottom 'band' right at the waist. That fit is what I expected . . . but didn't get. I learned that the Extra Small is only one inch shorter than the Small, so even people ordering the smallest size will get a sweater that drips down past the upper thighs. So disappointing.

Beautiful, comfortable, wish it came in petite
I can't wear wool sweaters, so am always happy to find a good cotton sweater, and Bean's are always comfortable and well-made. I love the pattern on this, and it's a nice warm midweight knit. It's long on me and would fit better if it came in petite. I got this in lilac mist wash, which was paler than the online image, almost colorless. That said I still like the sweater a lot.

This has Bean style and fit. Both excellent. However, during my first wearing I noticed the sleeve edges on one sleeve had several yarn threads that were frayed. I got some fabric glue and
fixed them as it was a sale item.Lovely sweater otherwise.

unravelling, ragged, holey after one delicate wash
yeah, pretty disappointing. washed it on delicate cycle and the yarn is totally unravelling. the fit is meh; sort of gives me a "pooch" that i dont actually have, per the design. dont feel like returning it/exchanging it...seems like ive had to do that a bunch with LL B...and i dont want to get called Karen lol.

Very pretty, Washed Blue exactly as pictured, looks great with dark rinse jeans. Slightly relaxed but not overly loose or boxy. It’s great to have a stylish chunky sweater that is 100% cotton so breathable and not overly warm.

A Little Long
The sweater is quite heavy. Great for Northern winters. However, it is not very stretchy and falls below the hips. Not flattering if you do not have flat abs! Pattern is beautiful. Color is beautiful.
