Regular size tubes sent with XL shells
My family was gifted two of these a couple years ago. They’ve sat in the basement for close to two winters. No snow, and kids weren’t quite big enough to use them safely. Fast forward to today. Now that the kids are old enough to use them and we have enough snow, I decided to blow them up. Each one came in a large box. Open the first box, and find an XL shell, with a Regular sized tube… maybe it’s a mix up and one box was switched?? No.. the second box was the same way. Two XL shells, and two regular sized tubes.. now what? Let’s blow one up. Tube bounces around the inside the shell like a pinball. Decisions, decisions. Do I spend $$$ for two replacement tubes, or try to call LL Bean?.. I can’t imagine LL Bean will honor any kind of replacement at this point.. hate to pitch them, but $60/tube is a stretch. Kind of ruins the whole ‘gift’ thing.

Thought it was too small but it isn't.
I was sure it was too small. I've had my tube for 10 years and inflated every year. A quick chat with customer service encouraged me to keep filling it. Sure enough it filled right into the tube. I think having it in a warm place and filling it gradually for the very first time was the key. Thank you LL Bean for your amazing customer service!

Another too small inner tube
The regular sled this is supposed to fit in has a diameter of 34”. This inner tube had a diameter of 28”, and is also a narrow type of tube that doesn’t fit the sled at all.

Small tubes
Replacement inner tubes were also much smaller than the sonic cover, but they worked.
I bought 3 sonic snow tubes. One inner tube was big enough to fit cover properly. Two inner tubes were too small and loose inside cover.

Replaces too many times
My parents bought my four kids these snow tubes over several years. We unfortunately have had to keep replacing the inner tubes. We replace one to two of them every year. While the outer portion is great, it is frustrating to have to keep spending money on them year after year!

Quality construction. Ambiguous instructions.
The quality of the construction is excellent and why this tube costs more than cheap knock-offs. We expect many winters of fun with this tube.
The accompanying instructions could be improved. The inner tube needs to *substantially* expand during inflation to fit the outer base snugly. This isn't stated explicitly, and it's not obvious to know when the tube us properly inflated but not overinflated. I confirmed with an LLB rep. The rep stated the tube is a vehicular inner tube, will greatly expand, and should be inflated to 2 psi. This is not specified in the instructions that we received. In short: Use an air compressor with a pressure gauge for proper inflation.
