Simple. This is my third LL Bean mechanical battery. Watch. All pretty much the same. Last for years. Considered other brands but stuck with old reliable. Great performance for last thirty years or so.

Buy this watch for show not for durability
The crystal on this watch cracks. This has occurred on 3 different watches. The warranty on the watch is now 1 years (It was life time). My current watch was out of the 1 year warranty when it cracked. Having said that, everything else on this watch is as advertised. I recommend buying this watch for show.

Nice face,rugged
This watch, like everything else, has become much more expensive over time. But it is nicer than a Timex, with a great, easy to read face; glow in the dark hands; Swiss made; and quite rugged…..I’ll see if the leather band holds up. My only problem with the watch was that it came in a chintzy case where the glue had fallen off (NOT nice). I won’t be keeping that case.

Easy On The Eyes
Easy reader is what I need and this watch does it. The only issue with the one I purchased years ago is it burnt through 3 straps fast. You would think a field watch would have a much longer lasting strap. So now I just keep it as a back up watch. I wanted to wear it every day. Pity. Maybe the newer straps are better. Let me know.

For those of us who don't require fancy watches, the Katahdin 42mm Field Watch fits the bill. While not fancy per se, it's very attractive and purely functional. This is my second LLBean watch, the first worn for far too many years. Time for a replacement for a beaten up watch that boldly withstood the tests of time.
