For nearly 90 years, we've been making our authentic Scotch Plaid flannel shirts the way we always have: better than everyone else's. Our exclusive flannel fabric is meticulously woven with longer-staple cotton, which means the individual cotton fibers are about one-quarter inch longer than short-staple fibers, making a huge difference in fabric strength and quality. Then, it's meticulously brushed eight times on each side and given a "touch test" by a master weaver to declare it soft enough.

Softest of soft flannel shirt.
I bought this very soft flannel shirt in April and have worn it frequently in the past few weeks. I have three of these Scotch plaid shirts. All are nice but this one is my favorite - very muted shades of green!

Unacceptable Shrinkage
These shirts are clearly not preshrunk by L.L. Bean, which is completely unacceptable. I've bought three of these shirts, and no matter how carefully we follow the care instructions, they always shrink significantly. They shrink so much that the sleeves stop in the middle of my forearm. It is unbelievable that L.L. Bean, once known for such high quality, isn't even preshrinking their flannel shirts now. I suggest you buy flannel shirts elsewhere.

Short sleeves
We bought a M Tall same as always and the sleeves are an inch shorter than the old ones we have that have been laundered 100x. Either a mixup or a bad change of pattern. The fabric felt amazing so it’s too bad.

happy to find quality wool and flannel clothes
I am very happy with the weight of the flannel and the construction, however I am disappointed that my size falls between large and extra-large. I am content one is tight the other is loose, that is ok though Iam building muscle to fill in the loose. I have tried large/reg, large/tall, extra-large/ (reg and tall)
All that is my testing to find my fit and I am happy with everything ordered

Nice flannel
Recently purchased and ordered it as it was listed as slightly fitted. I have a traditional fit size large and it is bigger in the waist more than I like so the purchase of the slightly fitted, fits if I want to wear it without a teeshirt. Otherwise it is a really nice shirt.

Great 3-season flannel
I've bought & loved several of these over the years. They last long, wear well, & are a nice middle weight - not too hot, breathable, great for the (relatively) mild winters here in California. I wear them 3 seasons.
