I did some research when our first daughter started school. I wanted a backpack that actually lasted. These came up as a top contender… and I’m so happy we went with them. The backpack has lasted 4 years and I only showing wear on the side cupholder, where I’ll probably put a little patch. My daughter wants a new one this year as she’s going into grade 3, but we’ll keep this one for our youngest! Great quality!

Nice looking backpack, but some flaws
I bought this backpack for my daughter before she started kindergarten. It's held up well all school year, but the material feels cheap to me, the fabric covering the zipper gets stuck frequently in the zipper, and 1 side pocket for a water bottle isn't ideal. The pocket is also too small and I'm always worried my daughter's 18oz water bottle will fall out. I'll be buying her a different backpack for 1st grade.

Gold standard
L.L. Bean has set the standard with book bags for years. An L.L. Bean bag is always going to be great quality and durability. My little is starting kindergarten, great print/color options, quality, durability, and personalization were my reasons for purchasing. Never disappointed by an L.L. Bean product. (Got the matching lunchbox as well)
