Hardly noticeable
Very comfortable and light weight. When carrying a rain jacket, some snacks, and two small water bottles, hardly noticeable on my back. I just use the shoulder straps, not the waist or sternum strap. If overloaded your results may not be the same as mine. Not easy to repack into its stowaway pocket though. So, I just lay it flat inside my suitcase when packing.

L.L. Bean stowaway ultralight day pack
I purchased this pack To be replaced a small backpack I had purchased many years ago. Material is great similar to my other L.L. Bean backpacks. Size is very good can be taken to the beach to the pool will fit a towel inside, etc. I feel an additional zip pocket on the outside of the Pack Would be very useful. Also an additional separator inside Would be very helpful for organizational purposes.

Who designed this?
I had the previous version of this that packed into the outer pocket, it was simple and easy to pack it away. This new design is horrid. Whoever approved this design must be a masochist. Let's take a bag and have it stow away inside a puch that is inside the bag.
I'll find some other company that doesn't "fix" what isn't broken, just for the sake of change which can be the only explanation for this.

Great for multi use
Great for hiking and every day use. I always need a backpack when I’m going to be gone for the day are going to several places and need to carry things along in this backpack provides ample storage and I love the deep pockets on the sides.

Where is Packing viedo
Quality of the bag is nice. I bought this bag because it was pack able. They do not show how to fold the bag to get into the small pouch. So after trying many different folds I just gave up and jammed it into the pouch. Thanks LL Bean for all the help!
