Pop Up Mechanism Has Serious Engineering Flaws
The quality of the build of this tent is good, however, the string pull pop up mechanism is faulty. I’m 6’2”, 195lbs and bench press my weight, so I’m strong enough to handle it, but here’s what happens- I watched the set up video several times, and I carefully unfold the unit and stand free of the canvass, I make sure the legs are unobstructed, and I grasp the spine where instructed and pull the cord, and the pop up motion can become easily obstructed leaving me tugging and tugging. Eventually it decides to let loose and pop into place, but the engineered motion definitely has flaws. With this kind of force needed I don’t expect the mechanism to last very long.

Best beach tent ever!
We are on our third beach tent from LL Bean.
The tents typically last 2+-3 years with an average use of use of 100+ days each year in often very windy and sunny conditions
We plan to buy another
Only complaint is wish they used a higher better grade ma.

Always bring LLBean to the beach with you!
We purchased one of these, an earlier iteration, nearly forty years ago, when our daughter was very young (she's 40 now), and it was our constant companion to beach trips. This newest version is a wonderful upgrade: easy to set up (once you figure out how!), and very well-made. (Assembling the early-generation model, with aluminum supports in a buffeting beach wind, was a much greater challenge than the new pop-up mechanism. We look forward to many more years of fun-in-the sun (and shade!), and are happy to load this amongst our beach gear. Always thanks to L.L.Bean for your excellent designs and quality products. Been purchasing from you since the 70s, and will continue to do so. Thanks, always.

Easiest setup ever!
Having come from a generation in which nuts and bolts and screws and do dads took hours and hours to put together things like bicycles and swing sets and so impressed When I come across something that is super easy to set up and does exactly what it says, and in this case this beach tent was super Duper easy!!

Broke the second time we set it up.
We bought this tent last year and it worked great the first time. However, today one of the most important plastic joints broke upon setup, rendering the tent useless. In the photo, the broken piece was wedged into the joint to avoid ruining the beach trip, though it was only semi successful.

This is an amazing game changer for going to the beach, especially in VERY Sunny Southern California. So easy to assemble and disassemble. It also makes a very private changing room with the flap coming up. We all love it and it is as high quality as you would expect from ll bean. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Excellent product, but not for us
We bought this tent for the beach. Everything about the tent was excellent, except one: the front of the tent blocked the view of the sky when sitting inside. We realized that we wanted a more open front.
