Product Details

We updated the classic Pa'tridge to make our nylon upland hunting vest, with breathable, water-repellent and snag-resistant fabric and redesigned pocketing to better organize your hunt.

  • Traditional Fit is relaxed through the chest and waist.

We started with highly water-repellent briar-turning nylon that resists tears and snags and added features hunters love to make this nylon upland hunting vest a great value. Its roomy fit allows you to work your gun easily, and we've added and redesigned the pockets to organize shells, valuables, eyeglasses, and, of course, game.

  • 100% nylon shell. 100% polyester mesh lining.
  • Spot clean.
  • Back pocket expands to hold lunch, rain gear, or check cord.
  • Removable, see-through waterproof security pocket inside.
  • Bloodproof front-loading game pouch zips open to lie flat for easy cleaning.
  • Button tape keeps buttons securely attached, regardless of repeated contact with briars.
  • Pockets on hips securely hold water bottles.
  • Two front bellows pockets have elastic shell loops and each holds a full box of shells.
Rated 5 de 5 de par Great features. Buy this vest! I just used this vest today. It has great features and distributes weight of game well. Easy to load and carry all game. The buttons are far superior to any zipper. Size is very accurate. Please keep making these!

Rated 4 de 5 de par Best vest on the market I sure wish you would make this vest for women. This vest has great pockets - game, extra layer or first aid kit, water bottles, inside pocket, shells, etc. I bought a men’s small and it’s a little tight around the hips, which makes it even tougher to unbutton the soft buttons and small button holes. Otherwise, this vest has all others I’ve tried beat by a landslide. Would you please make something so utilitarian like this vest for women, also? Maybe make the front closure a zipper!!!!!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Checks all the boxes This works well for pheasant hunting or shooting clays. Pockets are roomy and the fabric is robust. I’m an XL and this fit well over a heavy fleece and few layers.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Upland Vest Overall very pleased with this upland vest. Fabric is very durable, stain resistant and construction seems solid. The weather in South Dakota was a little warmer than usual reaching the upper 60's early in the 2022 season so the heavier fabric was a little warm. The two water bottle pockets came in handy, helping my lab and myself stay hydrated. The sizing may run a little big so there is plenty of room for layering for colder weather. I agree with a previous review, that the game bag zipper does begin to unzip a little at times. The rear pocket is nice storage for that extra layer or first aid kit.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good but over-designed Well constructed and functional vest. Seems durable, but I've used mine only a few times so far. If anything, it has too many bells and whistles, i.e. pockets and pouches, and it's a little too heavy for early season. The version of this vest that my wife got a decade ago had fewer pockets and unnecessary features and therefore was a better product in my opinion.

Rated 4 de 5 de par New Hunting Vest Bought this to replace an all orange LLB vest that was getting faded but otherwise fine. The pockets on the new vest are better organized and the big pocket on the back is a real plus for long treks. However, sitting in a vehicle with anything in this pocket is uncomfortable. My only real complaint is that it was almost impossible to button the vest because the button holes were a bit too small and the buttons are flexible, which made forcing them through the button holes very difficult. It seemed to get somewhat better after a week-long trip. My son has owned the same vest for several years with no problems.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Too Many Deficiencies I really wanted to like this vest since it’s time to replace my decades old LLB strap vest, but could not warm up to this traditional vest due to several issues. And this comes from someone who’s been an LLB hunting gear fan since the 1970s. Issue #1: The XXL size was too small and LLB size 46-48 shirts normally fit me fine. This one fit like a tailored vest not a hunting vest, and that was with empty pockets. With a lightweight fleece vest or jacket underneath (when loaded with shells, water bottles, dog collar controller, etc.) this LLB vest will be way too tight, especially so for a shotgunner. Issue #2: The vest will be too hot, except for maybe late season hunting here in the northern Great Plains or northern New England where I grew up, let alone in early Sept heat on the prairies or desert quail in AZ. The rubberized material used for the orange panel in the shoulder area will be hot and sticky, and the nylon fabric used for the rest of the vest hurts breath-ability, too. IMO, the vest would be much better if made of untreated, heavy duty cotton canvas but NOT waxed canvas, it doesn’t breathe either. One can always spray their vest with some type of water repellent coating. Issue #3: The game bag capacity is too small, can’t get three mature wild pheasants in that pouch! Issue #4: The rubberized buttons are a mixed bag. They won’t damage the finish on your favorite shotgun, and while I much prefer button closures over zippers, these flexible buttons were a real PITA to use with one hand! Issue #5: The front shell pockets are not real user friendly with the corners sewed shut, and I have years of experience with them on my LLB strap vest (original version). IMO, a normal flap with buttons on each corner would be more flexible. Additionally, individual shell loops in the pockets are almost useless. When made of elastic material they soon loose their stretch, and if made of non-stretchy fabric/leather they’ll only fit one shell size, not good for the gunner who owns several shotguns in different gauges. Issue #6: I find front loading game vests to be almost useless unless ones only harvests tiny game birds like quail. Trying to stuff a mature, wild rooster pheasant through a front loader vest full of shells, gear and other birds is an exercise in futility. I find it quicker just to take off the vest and stuff the rooster in the back openings to the game pouch. I feel that eliminating the front loader feature would free up valuable space on the front of the vest that would better be used for storage pockets for the handheld units of e-collar or GPS tracking collars, or bulky cell phones loaded with mapping software. Here are what I feel are the POSITIVE features of this vest. Good feature #1: The two external pouches for water bottles. This is critical when hunting for miles on the dry Western prairies. I never worried about water as a kid hunting the coverts in northern New England but it’s a totally different story here in the Western US. Good feature #2: The expandable storage pocket on the back is a GREAT place to carry stuff like snacks for the hunter and dog, a lightweight rain/wind jacket and a few other odds-n-ends like first aid items, extra whistle, etc. My only suggestion would be to move the pocket slightly higher, maybe an inch or two, if possible, without interfering with the fit across the shoulder blade area. All in all, this vest falls short of what I’m looking for in an UGB hunting vest but with a few easy to make changes it could be a great product.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Best of the Vest I bought the Pa'tridge vest 20 years ago.. (More? Less? ) This vest is only slightly changed. I don't like a strap vest because I actually depend on the coverage and protection of the full vest of material. This is the standard, the .270 of small game vests. It has great features and design approaches that I use and really appreciate in the field. The partially-closed shell pockets are great. I almost never button them and still don't lose shells and have ready access for reloading. Capacity is good. It maxes out with 2 big pheasants, which is fine for Pennsylvania b/c our limit is 2. When it's done, you're done. It's just great for the purpose but best under 60 degrees. It is thick, tough material. The only, ONLY drag on it is the gamebag zipper. It unzips way too easily. I was thinking of putting like beeswax on it; maybe a safety pin.
