Back to the Future ...
So after much internal hemming and hawing over which winter coat to get, I ended up with the Rugged Ridge Parka. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't even realize this is exactly the same as my previous coat, which tore along a seam last winter. (I got quite a lot of wear out of it; no complaints.) This one seems nice, but one thing I noticed is that it is less padded than my previous one, which was definitely a bit "puffier." Now this may not mean it's any less warm -- maybe the technology has improved -- but it is noticeable. Unfortunately, I can't really test out its utility in the middle of June, so I will have to wait. But it's still rated by LLBean as among the warmest, so I suspect it'll be fine.

Warmth and weight
It was a Christmas present and I love it. I wanted a warm but light jacket.

Zipper Issues
This is my second review of this Parka. In the first, 3 years ago, I gave it 5 stars. But after 3 seasons, two fighting with the zipper, I'm down to 1 star. First season, no problems, loved the parka. Second season, started to fight with zipper, but it still worked. Now after the third season, the zipper will not engage through the double zipper pulls to allow me to zip it up. Parka is in excellent condition, but now close to unusable because of the cheap zipper. No more LL Bean for me.
