We start with premium 850 down, which provides more warmth for its weight, and then treat it with revolutionary DownTek that allows our jackets to do what many others can't. Unlike ordinary untreated down that soaks up moisture, ours repels water and dries faster to stay light, lofty and comfortable, longer.

Consider needs, great coat for extreme cold
Very expensive and not super stylish. However a great coat for the right situation - pricey if you don't live in extreme temperatures. A must have and worth $300+ in Chicago, a "maybe nice to have" and too stylish for milder temps in Atlanta.

Great coat, fits big
I do love this jacket. However, for how much I spent on it, I wouldn’t have thought the down feathers would start coming out of the jacket so soon. I’ve barely worn it since I live in the south. It does fit a bit big as well, so order a size down from what you normally would get. Color & comfort are fantastic.

Great coat but fabric snags
I have purchased three of these lightweight coats from LL Bean and love everything about them except the fact that the fabric snags very easily if you brush against branches, coarse shrubs, etc. Two of my coats are riddled with patched or sewn repairs.

Favorite winter coat of all time!
My first LL Bean 850 down coat was purchased in 2015. I have loved it for 10 years. It’s so durable and warm. I describe it as I’m wearing a down sleeping bag. Lightweight and insulated. My old coat was damaged so I immediately replaced it. Repaired the old one and will donate it. I tell anyone who will listen how wonderful these coats are. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
