Size Up for Proper Fit
Ignore LL Bean's sizing advice - this is the most important thing to know before purchasing. LL Bean recommends ordering the same size as your pants waist, but this is completely wrong. If you follow their guidance, the belt will barely reach the first hole and look like you ordered the wrong size. Always order one size up from your waist measurement for a proper fit that looks good and functions correctly.
I've owned this exact belt since 2018 and recently ordered the same size in a different color, so I have direct comparison experience. The new belt is a full inch shorter than my 2018 version - same size, but clearly a manufacturing change. This appears to be a cost-savings move by the company, but it significantly impacts the product.
The shorter length creates two main problems:
1. Fewer adjustment holes - limits your ability to tighten or loosen the belt as needed
2. Poor aesthetics - the shorter length doesn't look as proportionally appealing
Quality remains consistent with my older belt - same materials and construction standards. The leather and hardware feel identical to my 2018 purchase.
Bottom line: It's still a decent belt, but be aware of these changes. Order one size up from your waist measurement, expect it to be shorter than older versions, and know that you'll have fewer holes for adjustment. The functionality and appearance issues from the reduced length are disappointing for a brand known for quality and longevity.
Would I buy again? Probably, but only with the proper sizing and realistic expectations about the recent changes.

Bought several of these belts over the years. Leather normally has nice soft, quality feel. This feels like vinyl. Stiff and hard to the touch. Cutting corners too much to maximize profit I'm afraid.

Misleading advertising
It’s advertised as “made of full grain leather”, however when the belt arrived, it is very clearly mostly synthetic material. I guess Bean never said it was 100% full grain leather, but this is very misleading advertising and incredibly disappointing. This is probably my last time ever buying from you again. Belt looks and feels like plastic junk.

Average quality belt
This is a better belt than you would usually get at a major department store, but it’s not as good as I expected of LLBean. The leather is thin and not as flexible or as well tanned as I’ve bought from them before (but a long time ago). That said, it’s worth the price and should last a few years.
