A warm baseball-style cap
I enjoy wearing baseball-style hats as long as my ears don't need to be covered, and I do so in cold weather with this cap to provide more insulation for my cranium. The color is excellent and natural. I do find the bill of the cap to be exceptionally stiff, but it doesn't seem to interfere with my hearing aids. I also find the entire circumference of the cap stiff, but if one wants a two-layer cloth-style cap with a good wool lining, I cannot see how to avoid it. Perhaps it will soften over time. I'm wearing it and enjoying the warmth already this fall. The quality is what one always expects from reliable L.L. Bean.

great 3 season cap
Well made, water-repellent, not overly warm. Fits a little more snugly than a regular baseball cap because of the wool lining, but otherwise sits well on the head. The loden is a nice near-black color that goes with everything.

Whatever you do don’t let it get wet
Picked on of these up recently and initially really liked it. Well made, tough in hand. I was excited to put some miles on it. Then I went outside one day and got caught in a little rain, nothing crazy, the hat kept my head dry, all seemed well. The second it dried the red die from the wool liner bled through and stained the entire cap, effectively ruining the cap. No I’m wondering how much of that red die from need up in my hair. Mega fail for “water resistant” waxed canvas. See pics. Sounds like others have had the same experience. Where’s that LL quality my other pieces have? Super disappointed.

Wool color leaks through
This hat is breathable and regulates temperature well, but unfortunately the red leaks through to the tan. I’ve only worn it a week with light rain and it looks not so great.
