Secure with silicone sealent
I used these on my poles to prevent sinking into soft ground made by millions of years of leaves. Work well in snow too (which this year seemed like it stayed around millions of years). However, I lost a pair trekking through some woods, and I can see that the twisting on design to secure the baskets is insufficient. So, I applied a liberal amount silicone sealant to secure them to the poles. It works well.

Great poles, more rigid than most
Pretty pleased with these trekking poles. I purchased the XL version thinking that the extra length would translate to more rigidity. It does. When adjusted to 125-135cm, they are quite rigid...no limp noodles here. The locks provide a strong and trustworthy lockup. Once I adjusted them, they have yet to slip--even when tested with my full weight (195 lbs). The grips are comfortable and straps work well. All in all, a great trekking pole that beats out higher-priced competitors.
I had hoped that I'd also be able to use these as XC poles when out on metal-edged touring skis, off track. They may work for that purpose in a pinch, but they'd pale in comparison to a good 1-piece pole (too much flex for that purpose at 150cm). Not really a fault of the product--just simple physics and a tradeoff you'd see with any collapsible trekking pole.
