Product Details

Inspired by the traditional sweaters of Norway - worn as a defense against the bone-chilling conditions at sea - this sweater is made of premium wool that will keep you warm wherever you are.

  • Traditional Fit: Relaxed through the chest, sleeve and waist.

While imitations are endless, it's hard to find authentic sweaters like these anywhere else, especially at this price. Competitors use wool-blend yarns, more modern machinery and take other measures that just can't compensate for the tried-and-true craftsmanship of our heirloom sweaters. Made exclusively for us the old-fashioned way, each sweater is expertly knit in Norway by family-run businesses who've been making them for generations.

  • Premium 100% wool.
  • Classic bird's-eye knit adds texture.
  • Handwash and dry flat, or dry clean.
  • Heavyweight wool is warm enough for unusual cold, whether braving the sea or a New England winter.
  • Time-honored craftsmanship, featuring designs and traditions that go back for generations.
  • Norwegian villagers traditionally knit distinct patterns or cables into the sweaters for good luck.
Rated 4 de 5 de par acceptable but not as heavyweight wool as previous Good quality sweater, made in Norway, supposedly by Devold of Norway (LLB refused to acknowledge this, but Devold website cites the preppy LLB version of their heavyweight fisherman sweaters) .. I compared this sweater weight to an older version of the LLB Norwegian sweater bought about 15 years ago .. current version weighs 16% less by weight than the older version .. older version was entirely opaque and you could not see light thru the sweater yarn holes when holding the sweater up to a window .. this LLB version yarn holes allows light to filter thru at virtually every stitch hole and confirms the lighter weight of the wool .. I am keeping it because I like the cranberry color that the Devold Norwegian sweater does not offer and several of my other sweaters are of a wool weight equal to the older LLB version and this less weighty sweater is still serviceable .. I am 5' 10" tall and 180# and the actual 47" garment chest dimension of the large is the same chest size as my other heavy wool sweaters and is a good fit .. I also looked at an extra large that had a 50" chest garment dimension and it was too loose .. buy your correct size and you should be fine.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Got lucky I normally wear a size M and as that size was sold out purchased the L with intention of washing and drying to purposely shrink it. Amazingly, the sweater is a perfect fit right out of the box, even down to the sleeve length and I have slightly shortish arms for my height. When in doubt definitely size up. Glad I took a chance on this one!

Rated 1 de 5 de par Review The sweater bits worn over two layered long sleeve shirts. Un-classy, cheap made and sloppily crafted item lacks style. My previous stylish one was very pleasant and comfortable to wear. Current edition displays majorly tanked quality. Returned.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Please don’t discontinue this!! I bought my first Norwegian Bean Sweater in 1996, my freshman year in college, to keep me warm while tromping around on a windy midwestern campus. It still looked fabulous a couple of decades later, but the wool/nylon blend was irritating my skin, so I bought the newer all-wool version. Since then, I order a new sweater every time Bean comes out with a new color. I have four now, and I love and wear them all fall and winter (hiking, stacking wood, lounging), and they look brand new. I hand wash them using wool soap in a tub once a year. It doesn’t, at this point, look like Bean is restocking these, which breaks my heart. Honestly, I do have enough (the four will last my lifetime…I’m sure of it), but it’s sad to see the demand for less expensive products is knocking something like this out of the product line. Are they expensive? Sure. But I’d gladly take my one Norwegian bean sweater a year over 10 fast fashion sweaters that pill up the first time you wash or wear them and don’t last more than a season or two.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Top notch Norwegian wool Initial impressions: I am 5' 11" tall, weight 145 lbs with a 38 inch chest. I wear a slim fitting long sleeve t-shirt under this sweater and a size medium sweater fits me perfectly. This is a full fitting sweater, not a slim fit so it does have a bit of a boxy shape. This is by design, as more air underneath sweater equals more warmth. For styling I would recommend wearing with straight leg pants instead of tapered leg or slim fitting pants. The sweater is very warm, is excellent quality and should last for many years.

Rated 5 de 5 de par As expected - awesome The last one I bought (1989) looks and feels exactly the same as the new one. Great fit and very warm.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Stand Out in the Currant/Gray Heather Example The Currant/Gray Heather example is positively spectacular! Whilst it may not be the traditional colour, it is, nevertheless, an item of fall/winter-wear one should never be without. It's outstanding and it'll make you stand out in a crowd. (See what I did there?!?) Seriously, it's beautiful… buy it now!
