Inspired by an original - ours. Our Field Coat was first introduced in 1924 as the Maine Duck Hunting Coat. It was an immediate favorite - loved for its rugged look and quality craftsmanship. Plus, it coordinated perfectly with our Maine Duck Hunting Boots (now known as "Bean Boots"). The legacy continues with this stylish lighter version. Very disappointing
I have been trying to find a replacement for the original field jacket that I bought from Bean decades ago. This looked close in terms of design, pockets, and fabric. I knew from the description that it was not lined, but I thought, if everything else was good, I would try and overlook that factor. What I found when I received it is the fabric backing is sort of painted on (I guess) and the corduroy cuffs and collar are cheap. In fact, when you roll up the cuff to show the corduroy, it really isn't wide enough and the painted backing actually shows on the cuff. It's not up to the "old" Bean quality. And after wearing it one time over a LIGHT sweater, the sleeves "stuck" to the sweater and pulled it up my arms because the jacket isn't properly lined. Don't buy this if you're looking for original Bean quality. It's going back.

I purchased a petite large, same as other items, but it is too big. I like the jacket, so I purchased a medium, and that fits.

Great Lightweight Jacket
I've just received this jacket and can't wait to wear it. The mineral blue color is really nice, the canvas fabric is lightweight and soft. The sizing is generous without being too oversized. There's room for a bulky sweater but it isn't too large if worn with a thinner shirt.
There is no lining which is great here in the south, it will be a 3 season jacket here.
The jacket description is accurate and the quality is superb.
