Heavy Duty, truly waterproof
I bought these for an upcoming autumn trip to rain-prone Scotland. I've tested them at home in wet grass and rain, and my feet have stayed dry. These fit me more like a boot—I had to go up an additional half size more than normal, which is more typical for a winter boot for me than for an oxford style shoe. This is also warm like a winter boot, which will also be good for autumn in Scotland. I intentionally chose this style for not having a lot of cloth vents low on the shoe, which I figured would be vulnerable to letting water in. Like most shoes of this type, I always feel that 48 inch laces that come with them are too long. I ordered some 43 inch replacements and they are the perfect length.

Happy Availability in Wide Width
I was so pleased to see there was something in a winter shoe that came in wide widths. I ordered an 8W and they fit great.However I am returning them. They are so stiff and hard it would take 2 years to break them so they would be bearable to wear. They are fairly thick soled, maybe an inch or more off the ground. The back of the heel where it is cut higher on the sides like an “M”, the two points bite into the sides of my foot. Wish they were just cut evenly around the top like my old Keens. It takes quite a bit of effort if you want to adjust the laces. The laces are those round nylon ones that seldom stay tied.i think they will keep your feet nice and warm. Appear to be very nice and strongly made.
