Disappointed in Quality
I’ve been a longtime LL Bean customer and have always loved their backpacks. My son’s previous packs lasted 2 and 4 years respectively we only replaced them because he needed a larger size. Unfortunately, the quality seems to have slipped in recent years.
We bought a new backpack in-store this fall, but when we got home, I noticed a defect. I exchanged it, but the replacement only lasted about two months before one strap began fraying where it connects to the bag. My son hardly uses it as it stays in his locker except before and after school, so this is really disappointing.
To make matters worse, the store was out of stock, and they couldn’t place an order for me. I now have to order online and pay shipping unless I spend over $100, which feels unreasonable for an exchange of a defective product. It's great they have a one year return policy but not when I'm paying for shipping.
The shoulder straps are stiff, which makes the bag less comfortable. If it wasn't for the large capacity and laptop compartment, I would not choose this bag (or company). I’m hoping LL Bean can bring back the quality and comfort that made their backpacks a favorite in our house.

Tons of room!
I was looking for a very large backpack for my 14yr old son. This is perfect! It is so much bigger than a regular backpack. He can fit all of his stuff plus I can fit his lunch bag inside. He loves the back/side zipper that has the separate compartment for his Chromebook. He says it is much easier to get to. We are very happy with it.
