Fell apart in the middle of the woods
I have owned several pairs of these boots and have always found them durable and comfortable, but my current pair is a different story. After only minimal mileage, in the middle of a backpacking trip the soles of both boots suddenly separated along both sides of the shoe, in the same way as is shown in other reviews. I barely made it back out thanks in part to duct tape procured from an AMC hut (five stars for them). Before that, the insoles had also delaminated, so the cost to replace those to the already high price. Clearly, L.L. Bean no longer makes performance equipment that can be counted on for anything beyond casual use. If you have made the mistake of purchasing these boots since the quality went downhill, be sure to always pack a bottle of cyanoacrylate gel glue.

Truly waterproof
I purchased these boots for my daily morning trip to the dog park. My "waterproof" Merrell boots (I have two pairs of Merrells) are NOT waterproof. After a couple of laps around the park the morning dew on the grass would saturate the Merrells and my feet would get wet. So far the LL Bean Cresta boots are completely waterproof and also very comfortable. Good bye Merrell, hello LL Bean!

Good Boot
These come in a wide size which not many boots do. After gradually breaking them in around the house, they are very comfortable to wear. Great Price

Great hiking boot right out of the box.
This is the second pair of these boots that I have owned. First pair lasted me 15 years. Probably could have had new soles put on but I elected to go with a new pair instead. Hiked with them right out of the box. No break in required. These boots are great no matter the conditions. Exceptional traction even on slippery rock faces.

Lasted 3 yrs before the stitching disintegrated
Very nice boots but after 3 years the stitching at the back of both the boots disintegrated. Costing $80 to repair. Saving a penny on quality is costing a dollar.

Comfortable but not long-lived
Bought a new pair a year or two ago after the old one finally wore out. Both soles have been coming unglued for a while. and one finally came off entirely. Glue only makes contact along rim of cup sole and on raised ridges of waffle pattern inside sole. Seems inadequate to hold together long-term. Still comfortable, but can't be counted on to hold up. Disappointing.

Great boots.
Love these boots. I wear them to work five days a week. I stand and walk a lot on a concrete floor. I buy two pairs so I wear one and then the next alternating. I've done this for the last ten years at least. They're sturdy, have good support, and most importantly are waterproof.
