Good hiking boot but we preferred the older model
My physics professor husband has been wearing the previous model of these boots for years -- year round, every day, all day, in our northern New England climate. He has been through many pairs over the years. They were sturdy and supportive, water-repellent and breathable, and unobtrusive with a pair of khakis and a button-down shirt. Sadly, that model has been discontinued. The Trail Model X is a bit heavier, and has a more aggressive sole. They are no longer ideal for around town and around campus, all day. The bigger, more obvious hiking boot soles call attention to the boots visually, and also in how they feel on his feet for daily wear. That said, this is a very nice hiking boot, and he kept them to wear for hiking. He will need to find some other light hiking boot in subdued colors for daily wear.

Waterproof Boot size
This boot ran large so it was returned. We liked that it was waterproof. Too bad it didn’t work out.

Top notch boots.
The first day I got these boots I put them on to wear them around and break them in. I forgot I was even wearing them. They are so incredibly comfortable. I do a lot of work outside moving things around and they are super comfortable on my feet.

Great Build/ Design Flaw for me personally
Out of the box - great looks and build... solid construction. Deal breaker- Unlike the KeenTargee 2-4, the toe box is just too pointed for my comfort. No 1/2 sizes 12 and up.

I read some of the reviews where there were concerns about lace length (not a problem) and ankle chafing (nothing there either). I’ve worn them for 3 weeks straight and love them.
