Rated 5 de 5 de par Purchased in 1991 and still going strong First introduced to the luxury of down comforters in 1991 by my boyfriend. I asked for one for Christmas and my mother, being asked to buy something that wasn’t a pair of combat boots or another piece of black clothing for her daughter was happy to oblige despite the price tag. Her investment was sound, as I am still using that comforter today. It has lasted me through college, graduate school, marriage, divorce, raising my (who by the way, has his own L.L. Bean comforter) and seeing him off to college. This comforter has gone through everything. And has had everything you can possibly think of spilled on it, , dumped on it, thrown up on it by people a pets and more. I have become an expert at throwing it in the tub and cleaning it and everywhere I go I find the closest place that will clean down comforters. Sure, has lost some feathers through the 30+/- years, but it still keeps me warm up here during the New England winter months and it’s not to heavy for a summer night. I cannot speak more highly of this comforter. I have been looking to try and purchase a new one for a while now, send this old one to the guest room, but I cannot find another down comforter that is 100% down filling without spending an excess of $1000. Most “ down comforters” have some percentage of feathers, or down fiber, versus being 100% down. Usually when you see the fine print, it’s a smaller percentage of down and a much larger percentage of the other. I am sure there are changes in quality and construction since my mother purchased mine in 1991, but I couldn’t tell the difference between mine and my sons that I bought in 2007. Well, there was one big difference. His looked very white compared to mine and I was even happier for duvets.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Warm is Pretty warm All in all. This comforter is good if you run cold and/or are in climate that gets below 45-50 F consistently at night. In the Bay Area I find it to be slightly too warm. The quince I mentioned below is perfect but build quality isn’t. Comparing the warmth to two other down comforters I’ve owned. (1) Marriott down comforter https://shop.marriott.com/brands/marriott-hotels/blankets-and-comforters/down-duvet-comforter/MAR-112.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqPUi5FJNS48jDGlKKu48TjZ904UMOZQSFZ_Qi9GLzpdO5J26OJ And (2) the Quince https://www.quince.com/home/comforters-&-pillows/premium-all-season-down-comforter?color=down This duvet is the warmest of them all and the best quality. However, now that I’m living in the Bay Area, I think the Quince Warmth level which is similar to the Marriott but more airy and less warm is the best for this climate. However, the feathers come out like crazy so it’s poor quality. LL Bean is best quality but also a bit too warm except on cooler nights in the bay. I haven’t had the Marriott tested here. But that would be a good middle ground in my opinion. No feathers leave the Marriott or LL bean at least noticeably. The amount that leave the quince one mane it a non starter.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Pricey Nice comforter but way overpriced, $200 for comparable comforters elsewhere.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good for a cold winter night It doesn't look very thick, but it is very warm. I've been using it this winter without additional branches and have been very comfortable. I also bought a cover for it from Bean, but if you are looking for a video on how to put the cover on, I recommend searching for one by Rachel Ray--it was more helpful than any of the other videos I saw.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Wonderful Comforter! The Baffle Box Goose Down Comforter is very comfy and perfect for our chilly unheated nights in our home in the mountains. The weight is perfect and with the LLBean Duvet flannel cover it’s just about heaven. My husband and I stay warm and toasty all night even when our inside house temps get down to 58 degrees or colder. What a delight. Should have gotten one a long time ago but glad I finally made the purchase. Totally worth it! Very nice quality!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Best bedding purchase! This comforter has been so perfect this winter. It is so warm and cozy, and the down traps your warmth so even if it is freezing when you jump into bed, you warm up in no time. It is sized generously enough that it drapes over the sides and end of our queen size mattress.
