Product Details

Featuring the moccasin-like feel that L.L.'s original hunting shoes had in the woods, our legendary Maine-made boots have the comfort and protection you need - whether you're bird hunting on a muddy tote road or walking the dog on a slushy sidewalk.

  • Approx. weight:: 3 lb. 8 oz. per pair.
  • With light or midweight socks: Whole sizes, order one size down. Half sizes, order 1½ size down. Example: 9 or 9½, order a size 8. With heavyweight socks: Whole sizes, order your normal size. Half sizes, order one size down. Example: 9 or 9½, order a size 9.

The original Maine Hunting Shoe was Leon Leonwood Bean's first product, introduced in 1912. Over the years, we've made lots of improvements to these boots, but hunters have told us that they miss the moccasin-like feel that our original boots had in the woods. So we set out to bring it back.

  • Steel shank for superior lateral and arch support.
  • Premium waterproof leather upper.
  • New sole provides better traction and durability.
  • Not designed to stay submerged in water.
  • Moccasin-like, flexible sole.
  • Laces not waterproof.
  • Improved upper molds to your leg for a custom fit.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Bring Back the Canvas!!! Got 7 years out of my first pair (which I still use w/worn soles & torn canvas) before ordering these. They're used year round in Michigan's U.P. wherever needed. This time I went up a full size (9-10, usually wear 10.5-11 elsewhere) in order to accommodate thicker socks and I'm glad I did; thinner socks still feel fine. I think the leather upper transitions to the rubber lower more comfortably interior wise on my janky ankles (car accident) but man, the canvas was/is cool looking.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Maine Hunting Boots with Thinsulate Liner I replaced my 30 year old Maine Hunting Boots with a new pair, only difference being went to wide width. Reason for going with wide width was to accommodate a 200 gram 3M Thinsulate liners (offered years ago from LLBean) purchased through Hoffman Boots (Kellogg, Idaho). These liners take the temperature range & comfort of the LLBean boot to a new level, and provides for a broader range of outdoor temperature use especially in the north country. Perhaps LLBean might again consider offering such a liner option. The new boot manufacturing quality is superb. Looking forward to putting these new boots to use this winter!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Inaugural Still Hunt Just finished the inaugural still hunt with my newest (2nd) pair of 10" Maine Hunting Shoe on the Tug Hill Plateau of NY. My first pair (Gortex, insulated) needed resoling, but the service was no longer offered, so I treated myself to a new pair. I'm not disappointed. Sizing was easy (I wear a 12 so I ordered an 11). I love feeling the ground under my feet in these shoes. Plenty of room in the toe box. Construction is spot on. Big thanks to KEITH for his care and craftsmanship with this fine shoe. Hoping it'll last me a couple decades.

Rated 1 de 5 de par What a convoluted sizing system! I can’t believe that LL Bean expects people to understand their convoluted sizing description. After using both their description and the “size finder” I still didn’t get a good fit. What a waste of time and money.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Same as it ever was I bought my first pair of these boots over 30 years ago. I do not hunt, but I used them for many tough activities such as snow shoveling, pouring concrete and heavy duty brush clearing. They are very valuable as a tick deterrent, as the 10” height allows you to tuck your pants inside them. My latest pair has all the same quality, workmanship and comfort as the originals with NO break-in period at all. I should only be so lucky to be able to wear these boots for the next 30 years and celebrate my 100th birthday wearing them!!
