Erratic quality control. Try them on first!
Roughly 6 months ago, I ordered and received 4 flannel shirts listed as "slightly tapered" in the large size. They fit perfectly and I was so sold on reacquainting myself with the company. As Spring appeared, I decided to invest in 4 more shirts (Oxford cotton, this time) still in the large size "slightly tapered". Upon delivery, I was disappointed to learn that they were noticeably smaller than my first order. While the fit was barely acceptable, being 100% cotton, I was unsure the fit would remain acceptable after several washings, so I returned them and reordered the next size larger, the extra-large in the still "slightly tapered". When the larger ones arrived, I did a dumb move and assumed that they would now fit like my much earlier order and I washed them all. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Upon trying them on, they don't fit even remotely close to the fit I expected. The sleeves, with only one button, are way too long, and the body was akin to wearing a cloth bag. I hate the way they look! I'll have to take my licking for the dumb mistake, but I now see the attraction of buying locally where I can try things on and compensate for erratic quality control. These are going to Goodwill.

Cotton twill
I'm happy Bean has returned to offering 100% cotton button down twill type shirt. It was a mainstay for many years. Nice color and fabric. Fit is a bit weird. Tight in the shoulders. I get that it is slightly fitted, but it's not my gut that's squeezed - it's just under the arms.

The fabric is very soft, and the thickness is just right for comfortable wear year round. The slightly fitted untucked fit is the perfect length for wearing untucked.

Could have been great
The shirt has some good qualities, specifically the style and color. Also the material seems to be untreated 100% cotton. The overall fit was good. The reason I returned it was that the neck was disproportionately large. Even though it was labeled as medium (usually about a 16 inch neck), the neck measured 18 inches. I don’t know of anyone who has a medium sized torso and extra large neck.
