Our twist on a classic, with authentic Aran Island cables and nautical stripes. This timeless crewneck sweater is made from crisp cotton yarns that are substantial and reach further into the seasons.
The original fisherman's sweaters of the Aran Islands were knit with designs that told stories of a rich coastal heritage. From good luck to a plentiful catch, special sentiments were represented in each and every stitch. We've recreated those same authentic cable patterns in a striped crewneck that's as timeless as its inspiration - made from densely-knit cotton yarns for three-season appeal.

A classic look
A classic design, but the knit is probably a little on the heavy side. This limits the situations for wearing comfortably.
I returned the small size, which fit exactly. I assumed the 100% cotton would shrink a bit. Re-ordered the medium, and it fit better after a wash. Factor in fiber-tightening if you are between sizes.

The quality of the cotton is sturdy and the thick making it a very comfortable sweater to wear. The cable stitching is beautiful. I bought a size larger than I normally wear because I will wear a layer underneath. Love it.

Decent sweater with good pattern and color combo
I bought this sweater to wear to school and for casual outings. It's decent quality it just isn't as fitted as I'd like it. LL Bean doesn't offer a lot of "fitted" sweaters so I wasn't pleased with the fit despite it being in XS it was still a bit boxy. I kept it anyway as I like the pattern and color combination. Have not washed it yet but wondering if it will shrink is size a bit.

Beautiful but not for me
This sweater was really pretty and very well constructed but the material was very rough and irritating. I am sure it would have softened up with washing but the reason I returned it was it just didn't look good on my body type.

A new favorite LLBean sweater
Thank you for bringing back high quality, classic textures & flawless design. Comfortable & perfect for year round. I sized up from M to L for a looser fit. My second favorite sweater is LL Bean 100% wool turtle neck cable knit circa1995. Keep bringing back the 100% natural material signature classics!
