Product Details

An L.L.Bean exclusive for three decades and counting, our classic river driver's shirt has an innovative duofold construction that effectively traps and holds warmth.

  • Roomy, nonbinding fit, cut long to stay tucked in.
  • Traditional Fit: Relaxed through the chest, sleeve and waist.

We named this shirt after the Northern Maine log drivers who made their living in tough conditions - because we designed it to work just as hard. Exclusively knit for us in Nova Scotia, our legendary two-layer Henley features a chill-stopping dual-layer construction - so cold and wet stay out and warmth stays in. We love how it's tough on the outside, and soft on the inside.

  • Outer layer is 50% cotton/40% merino wool/10% nylon.
  • Woven just for us in Canada by Stanfield's, a 160-year-old family company.
  • Inside layer is made of soft, absorbent cotton.
  • As a duofold construction (the cotton and wool are knitted together), it will shrink in the dryer.
  • Machine wash, dry flat.
  • Traditional two-button placket.
  • Durable, quick drying wool blend outer layer keeps cold at bay.
  • Rib-knit cuffs with Lycra® elastane.
  • Thermal construction traps air between the layers to retain warmth and helps layers hold shape.
Rated 5 de 5 de par Workhorse that can win best in show. Comfortable, tough, warm and stylish. I still have the first one I purchased in 2002 (Loden, crewneck). They get more comfortable as they age. When new, they get me complements for casual style. In harsh weather they are the best midlayer I've found. Shoveling the drive or hiking 6 miles in snow to see a frozen waterfall.

Rated 3 de 5 de par What Happened to Crew Neck? The river Driver is great for layering in the cold North Easten climate. But a Henley, with the buttons, does not layer nearly as well as the crew neck. The Henley is fine if that is what you are wearing but for layering the crew neck is far superior.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Neckline cut too high in the front I bought this shirt for my husband, and while the color, fabric (nice weight, soft) and overall fit are great, it seems to be cut a little too high on the neck; it stands up too far on the neck in the front. He is keeping it anyway because it’s a nice shirt in every other respect.

Rated 5 de 5 de par A Comfortable, Versatile Shirt A very comfortable shirt - I really appreciate the double-layered construction. While I originally bought as a night shirt, I purchased a few more to wear under casual sweaters. Wash and dry as instructed, and the garment will maintain its shape and size.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great for layering I really like these Henley’s. Nice heavy white fabric, but still soft and comfortable on the skin. I like to wear them layered up sometimes with a short sleeve tea underneath and a long sleeve flannel or other shirt on top. Given the cold weather, we’re having now this is just what the doctor ordered.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Why would they discontinue Black?? I love these shirts. But why discontinue black? I’m a carpenter and wear these shirts everyday. I love LL bean’s quality but I don’t want to look like I’m going to a Christmas party at a live, laugh, love candle shop.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Hole already. Just gifted it at Christmas. Already has a hole in the outer layer of the shirt

Rated 3 de 5 de par na The shirt has a bite of an itch to it-must be the wool component.
