An L.L.Bean exclusive for three decades and counting, our classic river driver's shirt has an innovative duofold construction that effectively traps and holds warmth.
We named this shirt after the Northern Maine log drivers who made their living in tough conditions - because we designed it to work just as hard. Exclusively knit for us in Nova Scotia, our legendary two-layer Henley features a chill-stopping dual-layer construction - so cold and wet stay out and warmth stays in. We love how it's tough on the outside, and soft on the inside.
- As a duofold construction (the cotton and wool are knitted together), it will shrink in the dryer.
- Outer layer is 50% cotton/40% merino wool/10% nylon.
- Inside layer is made of soft, absorbent cotton.
- Woven just for us in Canada by Stanfield's, a 160-year-old family company.
- Machine wash, dry flat.
- Durable, quick drying wool blend outer layer keeps cold at bay.
- Rib-knit cuffs with Lycra® elastane.
- Thermal construction traps air between the layers to retain warmth and helps layers hold shape.
- Traditional two-button placket.

Favorite of his, but less of her.
Warm shirt, but I’d prefer that it have a cozier feel. Despite the cotton interior, it’s still a bit stiff and scratchy, though I find with many repeated washes over time that that aspect eventually dissipates. I bought the men’s shirt for myself because I could find no similar product in women’s wear and prefer a longer length as well. I also chose it a size up so that I could put it in the dryer. I’ve purchased this style shirt for my husband in multiple colors over the years because it’s a favorite of his.

Great product but pricey
It wish I could afford to buy these in every color. I remember when these used to be 39.99. They have gone up so much in price. I love the way the shirt fits, it is great as a top and as a layer. Keep making amazing products, but I would appreciate it if these were more affordable.

Read Laundry Instructions First!
I didn’t realize this shirt had special laundry requirements, and when I washed it and dried it with my husband’s other L.L.Bean Henleys, I discovered to my horror that it had not only shrunk in the dryer, by the material was puckered and no longer comfortable to wear.

Compared side by side with previously purchased River Driver's shirt , this is thinner. Hopefully the quality will be maintained in my favorite llbean shirt.
