Field tested in the extremes of New Hampshire's White Mountains, our classic insulated Baxter State Parka was built for serious wind and cold. Updated with new fabrics, it's now lighter, stronger -- and just as seriously warm as ever.

Must have for sub zero New England weather
This is not a coat for hanging around town on a 40 degree day, but I have never found a better coat for walking the woods of New Hampshire on a crisp -20 morning. It is incredibly warm, well constructed and has multiple useful pockets for a variety of uses.

Men's State Parka II
I've had this parka for a couple of months, replaced a similar item that was about 14 years old. This parka is a lighter weight and it is warm. Saying this, I usually wear an undershirt, a warmer shirt and a fleece type sweater. This combination mostly worked well during the severe temperatures we just experienced in NJ. However, when the temperature was in the single digits, I still felt a bit of a chill during a brief stay outdoor. Note, I wasn't doing anything but waling so I think if I had been doing some activity it would have been fine. I like the construction of the parka, it doesn't feel cheap. 4 stars only because I did feel that slight chill and this parka is listed as "warmest".

Polar Perfection
This parka has everything I was looking for: wind and moisture stopping warmth, 2-way zipper, a good mix of useful pockets and a back length that keeps frigid blasts from invading from behind! Price-wise it is a great value and I'm very satisfied and glad I found it.

The overall fit/size was good enough but the fabric was harsh, the zipper did not work properly and I was not satisfied wiith the parka. Maybe good for some but not for me. Not comfortable because of
the fabric.

I bought this to replace a parka from a high-priced brand. The zipper had broken and their repair takes 8-10 weeks. For literally $250 less, I ended up with this amazing Baxter State Parka. It’s great. The fit is excellent and the warmth it provides is incredible, especially during this recent NYC arctic cold air. Wind protection is phenomenal as well. I really like the placement of the inside chest zipped pocket as you don’t have to actually unzip the coat to get to it, just open the snaps. I did unzip and remove the fur collar though. When my other coat is repaired and sent back, I likely won’t wear it and will probably stick with this one next season. Believe the reviews here, this is a great LL Bean parka.

The only winter jacket I ever need!
My L.L. Bean winter parka I owned finally gave out after 30 years!!! Their quality is second to none and I knew the only jacket to replace my old one is another L.L. Bean parka! The Baxter State Parka has all the pockets you'll need. It fits great and I cannot feel wind, rain, snow, or cold where the jacket covers! I recommend this jacket to anyone in need of a winter jacket for even the toughest of conditions.
