Field tested in the extremes of New Hampshire's White Mountains, our classic insulated Baxter State Parka was built for serious wind and cold. Updated with new fabrics, it's now lighter, stronger -- and just as seriously warm as ever.

- Rib inner cuff: 90% acrylic/8% polyester/2% spandex.

- Note: Remove faux fur trim before laundering. Hand wash faux fur and dry flat.

Very well made but poorly designed.
The quality of build is top notch and the coat fit like a dream.
However, the placement pf pockets are poorly designed.
The storage pockets on the sides are at odd angles and very small.
Not even large enough to fit a pair of gloves or a hat without forcing them in.
The handwarmer pockets are also a bit out of place and small as well.
You definitely will not be able to wear gloves and use these pockets.
If the coat was redesigned with larger, better placed and lined pockets I would buy it in a heartbeat.
But for the cost, I expected that already to be done.

Very Warm Jacket - Exceeded Expectations
First time wearing the coat was for tailgating and a football game in 8 degree temps. Outside for 6 hours in single-digit temps and the coat was very warm. It is effective at stopping wind and cold. I wish I would have bought this coat a few years sooner.

Bad zipper
I have been a loyal customer of ll Bean for decades
I have never had any issues with LL Bean products until now. I purchased a black Baxter State Parka 4 years and and within 2 years the zipper failed at the bottom. I ordered a replacement thinking it was a fluke but that zipper too has failed . I noticed several zipper issues when I looked through reviews. I hoe LL Bean reads this review and does the right thing

Terrific Parka!
You want warm? This is the parka for you! It's not overstuffed like some other parkas, making you look and feel like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Plenty of large pockets also to hold gloves, etc. I wish it had a small zippered pocket or two for wallet or phone but that's minor. And the hood is large enough to block out wind from the sides of your face.

Warm and comfortable!
Super warm and lots of pockets. Long enough to keep my backside warm. I live in northern Wisconsin and winter came early, glad to have this coat.
