Bought It Just To See.....
The top side does not hold sand. Hard to believe, yet true. Used it in FL and MI.
Bottom side clearly waterproof. In all it dries by the time you get to the car. I got the Persimmon which a year later I see is on sale, I guess I bought the ugly one.
This animal I had no faith in only to find L.L. Bean does not lie. Its 100 percent legit. Light weight, hold it up to the ocean wind and watch it kick everything, granules, moisture, whatever right out. Then wear it around your shoulders while walking off the beach leaving folks stupefied like your Superman.

Highly recommend / multi-use
Love this picnic blanket! This is actually my second one. The first I had for about 10 years before it started to lose its waterproofing so I had to replace it. It is great for times when the ground is damp (every day in New Orleans), and I also use it as a wrap when it is raining / misting / windy at my son’s soccer games. Perfect for that, too!!

This item was purchased as a gift. However, I own one of these blankets and am extremely happy with its warmth and protection from precipitation which is why I purchased this blanket as a Christmas gift for my son and daughter in law.
