I'm petite and wanted to write a review to offset the other one by the petite woman who wrote that the sweater makes her look frumpy. I'm 5'1" and around 115 pounds. I ordered the small. which fits perfectly. It drapes as it should, which is to say it's neither boxy nor do the very slight curves hit in the wrong place. On me, it falls at the true hip and looks great. Like other clothing in LLBean's signature line, it is clearly of superior quality with extra attention to detail. The design at the neck and sleeves is beautiful. The standout part for me is the comfort of the material; it is heavy yet it breathes. As a woman in my 50s whose temperature can fluctuate, this goes a long way; the sweater is not too hot, yet it keeps me warm. Color: I have a completely neutral-colored wardrobe and wanted a change. I looked specifically for a red sweater, going against type, and bought this and others, not knowing which I'd keep. This red is fantastic!! It is a true red. I disagree with the woman who feels like it's too fiery. Even I, who wears white, beiges, and black almost exclusively, don't feel overwhelmed by the newness. It's such a good color, it looks correct. I gave it four stars rather than five mainly because the sleeves, on me, are long. Long wouldn't be bad if I could cuff them, but because of the beautiful design, folding them over makes them bulky and look inside out at the wrist. I wear it around home that way, but when out, I leave them long. I see other reviews say the same about the sleeves, but I'm convinced that if the sweater came in petite, they would fit properly. Most Bean clothing comes in petite, so this is disappointing. My other gripe, though not huge, is that the shoulders should be more defined. If you look at the pic, you'll see that the seam falls not at the shoulder, but below it, which gives the shoulder itself a rounded look. This, also, is probably more extreme on me because I'm petite. Wash: I have washed it in the machine and laid it flat to dry, and it came out perfect. You will need to spin it more than you want to because of the bulk. Overall, I recommend it, and I hope this was helpful.

Lovely design.
Sweater is simple but has nice details at collar, cuffs, waist. and Is very well constructed, Will be nice when the weather cools and it can be worn!

Stylish "irish" looking sweater.
Fabulous sweater. Soft, warm and stylish. My daughter was ecstatic to find this at the store. Will look even better with a turtleneck for a pop of color. She can't wear wool, so this sweater was a delight to find.

QUALITY High-FRUMP Factor HIGHER for Petites
I ordered three of these hoping that I'd not like at least one of the colors. Sadly, the colors weren't the problem. Color alert:
The navy is nice, but a darker navy, not a brighter one.
The ivory is full on bright, warm cream - very warm. Under normal circumstances, this would have been the selection.
The red is FIRE. Nothing subtle about this red, and I'd say it's warmer rather than blue-based red, too.
BUT the problem was the Frump factor. There are two things that may rock the FRUMP factor off the charts for those who are petite:
1. It's long. Like tunic long. That's a no-go for me but exceptions have been made. Not in this case, however. It's just too bulky and too long. I don't look like I'm in an oversized sweater. I look like like I'm an oversized appliance. Not an option.
2. The cables are so wide that IMO they look cheap and they're upping the FRUMP factor even more. They did not do the normal elongation thing because of their width. I wanted to look FIRE not FIRE ENGINE, and in this, I look like the whole darned truck. And I'm like 5'2", 113 lbs, so not a really large person.
I do think that these are nice quality, very heavy knit, and if they were shorter and the cable knit a smaller weave, I'd have kept one. Instead, all three are going back. That said, I do think that these are nice sweaters and probably look awesome on the right person, but if you're petite, be aware, that right person might not be you.

Long enough sleeves at last!
I read a critical 2 star review about how the sleeves were too long "came down below my finger tips" and could not order this sweater fast enough. I've loved LL Bean since I was a late teenager in the early 1980s but the sleeves have always been crazy short for me. (Really, they have the shortest sleeves of any company I know. This goes for "tall" as well.)
And, I love a True Red which is so hard to find. Great sweater! I might have to get it in navy as well.
