Top strap broken within 3 weeks
I purchased this same backpack for my son who is now in Grade 2 and it has been incredible. I repurchased for my son in JK this year and the top handle broke extremely quickly with regular use. They no longer have the same style available, so I am not sure what to. Will probably return and try another company as this seems to now be very common.

Love this bag! Only one small issue
We have 2 of the Explorer Backpacks (one is on its 4th year of school & the other on its 3rd year)! They are both still in great shape! My only issue is with the water bottle pocket. I wish that it went all the way to the bottom of the bag. It works just fine with a kids size water bottle (16oz), but with any taller water bottles above that, it falls out.

Top strap broke off within 2 months
We have always purchased LL Bean backs for our children, and this was the first time we had issues. The bag is beautiful, but the top handle frayed and fell off within two months. This makes it nonfunctional for school use. My other child has had her bag for 3 years and the top strap shows no indication of issues. Based on the other reviews, this seems like a common defect this year. I’ll be returning it.

Top handle already ripped
I am disappointed in the quality of this product. My 7 year old has been using for only 5-6 weeks since school started and the top handle used for hanging has already ripped off.

Carry strap broke
Carry hook broke after 1 week. Exchanged it and the exact same thing happened. Now onto our third. The staff seemed annoyed with me instead of being apologetic. Hopefully this one holds out. Otherwise I'll have to return and give up on llbean.
