Nice footwear but have a tongue problem.
Although the Gumshoes are very comfortable and exactly what I was looking for in gardening and snow removal footwear the issue that I have, and I’ve read in other reviews, is that the tongue slides down creating a pocket that fills up with stuff. In order to alleviate this issue I had a local shoe repair shop sew lace loops on the top of the tongue, this helped but didn’t totally eliminate the problem. It did take three tries and two returns to get a pair that fit and perhaps sewing the tongue in near the bottom of the tongue would help.

Great quality with plenty of arch support. The only problem was that it took a couple of exchanges to get the right size which was 1 1/2 sizes smaller than my regular size.

Eliminate the heel
I have long wished that Bean would offer some of its "boots" without a heel. This one is a good example. This shoe/boot is perfect for walking and running my dog through wet grass and fields. But the heel makes longer walks less enjoyable. Heels do not promote proper foot support and posture. Tradition is good until we know better, and Bean should
know better by now.

Gumshoe for fishing
I have owned a pair of L.L.Bean's Maine Hunting Boots for over 20 years. I wanted a waterproof shoe I could use while fishing in a 12' foot boat that might leak some. I ordered these Gumshoes as they would be cooler fishing than the boots I own. I ordered them per the instructions in the catalog. The arrived and fit perfectly. I anticipate they will perform just as I intend them to.

Way Over Sized
I wear size 15 shoe,so ordered size 14 as suggested. They were still at least an inch too long so returned them and ordered size 13 which ar fine.
