Denim shirt that will become better over time
First of all it was a terrific price for a denim shirt. The sizing and design is just right for me. The fabric is somewhat stiff, but eventually with wear and washing it will soften up. It doesn't bother me, but my wife has a very sensitive nose; she says the shirt has a slight oder, somewhat similar to a decaying grass smell. I can't smell it, but again, with wear and multiple washings it should become benign.

READ BEFORE YOU BUY
A word to the wise. This denim shirt has turned up a couple of times on sale at LL Bean. It appears that the reason it is on sale for $29.99 (which is not stated in the listing) is that somehow in the dying or packaging process the shirt has acquired a really unpleasant, foul odor (somewhere between mothballs and human vomit). The smell was so strong that we had to put it back in the package because it stunk up the room. It’s a shame because it’s a nice, useful shirt. Just be warned that you’ll have to wash the shirt several times before this sickening odor starts to dissipate. I’ve washed mine several times, and it still has a vague smell to it. I’m sure that eventually it will fade away, but be warned that when you receive it, you won’t be able to wear it anytime soon.

Unacceptable Persistent Horrible Smell
nice shirt generally but that horrible smell. washed it twice by hand and again by machine and have had it on my porch railing for weeks and smell still not completely gone. would have returned it if I had realized that smell would be this persistent. LL Bean should not sell anything like this if they care anymore about their reputation. Literally smells like this was shipped inside a tank of diesel fuel.
