These pants are great especially for cool weather. Theyy are comfortabe for inside and outsie wear. I used them primarily for walking. They are slightly stretchable but keep their shape and they have plenty of pocket room. For me they were true to size and the elastic around the ankles keeps out draughts.
I would recommend them highly.

Perfect Travel Pants
I bought these for a trip to New Zealand recently and I have to say they are the best pant to travel with! Kept me dry and comfy throughout long days of hiking and boating. Next up, Greenland! They will serve me well there. I am usually a large in Beans' line and that's what I ordered. Fit is perfection, performance is impressive.

The best prep-purchase for Iceland trip!
I bought these pants for a trip to Iceland, and I cannot stress how amazing these pants were. I was kept fully dry and warm on a glacier, hiking around and behind waterfalls, and walking through camp during 40 degree rainy nights. Fell a few times on ice / rock, but don't have any fabric tearing. Elastic band on the ankle helped keep them over the top of my hiking boots. I wore these everyday (either on their own or over leggings on colder days) and am fully crediting them for being able to enjoy every activity despite some rough weather.
Size note: my local store didn't have my normal size, so I bought one size up. It was a slightly roomier fit, but with the waist drawstring the fit was fine. Also allowed more room for layering. If the XS was available, I would've ultimately picked that one, but I'm very happy with the S and will continue to wear them.
