Works Well Overall…a Couple of Observations
Obtained mine from a Von Maur (they have a curated inventory of LLBean). I have used it to replace my overhead compliant hard-side roller board. As it is not solid, it discouraged gate agents from the “we are overcapacity plane side check” reality on 4 flights. A couple of notes: It fits fine in a US flagship overhead compartment horizontally and vertically; don’t know about European flagship carriers; I will find out next summer. 2-4 days max packing is my recommendation, remember it is a rollerboard size unless you are a “Pack light person.” It is not difficult to carry as a backpack; chest strap is a plus. I toted it around Boston for a day without difficulty. A waistband would be a nice add; I believe there is space to make it tuck away, but it is a 2-4 day bag, is it necessary? Flap pocket above fleece sunglasses pocket with organizer pockets is somewhat useless; pockets seemingly wrong sized for what I have tried to use them for and they are all envelope pockets without flap covers or zippers except for the mesh pocket. IMHO: this is a redesign opportunity The pad on the detachable shoulder strap needs to have a backside that is covered wth some type of slip resistant material to assist with balance and decrease movement. A typically solid LLBean product; would definitely recommend

Hybrid suitcase/backpack for travel
I have the original suitcase style of this bag with two equal sized sections and have used it for almost 10 years. The tough fabric is very sturdy and It has held up excellently and still looks good. A great cross between a suitcase and a backpack for travel for those of us who hate wheeled bags.
