This great-looking traditional outerwear combines the rugged durability of waxed cotton and the warmth of down insulation. Tough British Millerain waxed cotton is water resistant and highly abrasion resistant.

Not Impressed With this Jacket
Very tight around the shoulders and arms which limits your mobility while wearing this jacket. Very light almost like a shell. Would not recommend or buy again.

I really like this coat. It's approximately 1/4" to 3/8" thick, so don't expect it to be thick with down. There is just enough down to add some warmth.

Wax it
This is a great coat. I call it a poor man's Barbour jacket (not a sweater).
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 out of 5 stars is that it was wax starved. 2 applications of Grangers Wax Cotton Dressing brought it to where it should be. Sponge car wax applicator and heat gun are key (hair dryer would work). House Of Bruar has the wax.

6 1” 200lbs - Runs large like most llbean tops, normally a large, purchased medium and fits perfect. Overall a great purchase, light enough for days that start cold and end warmer, but heavy enough if paired with a long sleeve for cold days. I appreciate the two zipped pockets, one on each side along the zipper line up near the chest. The waxed outside works well in the rain, but be warned - you will need to heavily lint roll this jacket daily. Hair, pet, cotton, nearly everything adheres to this jacket. Lint roller cleans it up nicely but only temporarily.

Warm But Not Bulky
I wanted a down jacket (I don't know why this is called a sweater) that is not shiny bulky nylon with a bright logo on the chest. This is it! Also I like the zip up collar that keeps my neck warm.It's great.The pull on the zipper could be better (bigger).

Good design but wearing out very quickly.
This is a jacket not a sweater. More or less light despite the fact that it is down filled. It's Ok for a cool but not cold day. The size , shape, materials , color etc. may be be my favorite overall design for a jacket that I have ever had. I have gotten very good comments about the appearance .
But it is wearing out very quickly, which is disappointing. As mentioned in another review, the sleeve seams and all the exterior cloth along the arms are tearing and really just falling apart. Looks like it's been worn for 10 years instead of 3 months. I won't return it because I like to wear it despite the wear. Very comfortable. I may buy another one just so I can have one that looks good. But I can't recommend it. Most LL Bean things last decades not months.

Very pleased with this coat sizing allows for layering and have done as a result of the cold we are experiencing in Michigan. Recommend the coat based on price and quality.
