Just About Perfect!
I had used a old L.L.Bean Continental (front-loading even) for decades as a weekender for short two-three day backpacking trips. Frankly, it was a favorite, but it always was a bit tight for the gear a fellow my size needs to carry. It finally began to wear out, and I was excited to see a slightly larger version offered for just the purpose I need it. So I bought one, and I am thoroughly pleased with the design, materials, and price. I carry a fairly light (and by now routinized) load, for a weekend trip coming in with kit, food, and water at 25 pounds or less. This pack holds it all without compromise, just where I want it. I keep my trail tarp shelter in the front pocket, rain gear and folding saw in left side pocket, and liter water canteen with cup in the right side pocket, and sleeping pad lashed underneath. All else goes inside with no problem. The waist belt is not useful for me; the pack is too short in length to reach my hips. But that is okay; I easily removed it. The back of the pack is firm and well-padded, so I am fine with the shoulder straps alone. Yes, it is compact; yes, it is not optimal for airline overhead compartments; yes, the outside pockets are limited in size. But I bought it to use as a lightweight, 10-35 mile trek, three-season backpack, not luggage. It is big enough. It has all the features I need from it. It is tough and well made. When packed up tight, it even floats! April though November, for two or three days, it is just what it is purported to be: a weekender. And for that use, for me, it is just about perfect.

Too many buckles
Bought to fit overhead bins on small regional airlines because 6" thick. Way too many useless fasteners to catch on everything. Likely going back.

Great, but just a little too short.
Very well designed, But I found it to be too short in the torso. I really hate this because I have always wanted this pack because of the pockets and the organizational ability of the pack.
I'm 6'3" with a 22 inch torso, so it was just a little bit too short for me. If you are shorter than 6 feet tall and looking for excellent compartmentalization, I think this would be a great choice for you.
The construction is solid, And this will probably last you many many years.

Great Day or Weekender Pack!
I've used my weekender backpack near daily since recieving it. It's well-built, functional, and adjusts easily for a great fit. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a rugged and dependable zipperless day or overnight pack.
