Our original SunSmart™ apparel, Tropicwear was first introduced in 1992 to protect destination anglers from the hot tropical sun. Customers quickly discovered Tropicwear wasn't just for fishing, using it for just about anything outdoors. It's been updated with a better fit, new stretch woven fabric that's softer and better ventilation. Best of all, Tropicwear still provides UPF 50+ sun protection, or about 10 times more than a white cotton tee.

Obvious logo on chest area
I really wanted to order the Tropic wear shirt but I don’t want to wear the LLBean logo on my chest! Maybe when Bean realizes they’re losing business by putting their logo in such a prominent place, they’ll listen to their customers and put a more discreet logo elsewhere. I have no hope that they’ll discontinue making us part of their advertising.

Love my new Shirt
I love this shirt, it is well made and looks very nice on me. I needed to replace a similar UV shirt I bought at Beans many years ago and am pleased that the quality is same or better.

I love LL Bean
I love the 50 sunscreen. It fits me perfectly. I am 5’1” and I bought a petite small. Next year I’ll have a pink one. The vents on these shirts are really nice for hot weather.

A sun shirt needs to do more than sun protection
I returned this shirt as the fabric was very heavy and not at all breathable. I live in California and this summer we have had way too many days exceeding 110 degrees. This shirt would have been far too hot. The construction and color were fine.

Shirt for Traveling
This shirt is great shirt for traveling as it’s lightweight, breaths, has sun protection and is comfortable. I’ve taken it on a couple of international trips and with the newer back vent design, it provides venting while wearing a backpack. This is a great improvement over the previous tropic wear shirts.

Lightweight and protects from sun.
On the pricy side, but decided it was worth it. Did great at my recent beach trip. Keeps my arms covered but still light weight.
