A base layer you must buy
This is my first purchase and I can honestly say it is the warmest base top layer! So silky soft not tight and moves with your body movement. I enjoy doing my morning walk outdoors and other base layers kept me cold. The merino wool is perfect and I am toasty warm now, I highly recommend it!

Poor quality. Thumb holes are ridiculously cheap. . Seaming is Poor quality. It's soft and warm. But attracts everything fuzzy. Priced way too high. Same price as competitors with a way better product.
Shop elsewhere for a better product.

my favorite winter hiking, XC skiing, etc top!
I love LL Bean Cresta wool base layers. They do not stink--unlike polyester products, are very comfortable, and look nice. I own two of the patterned styles of this top (several years old and still going strong), and this year I bought a lovely orange one. Warmth, comfort, no-stink--what's not to love. One caveat: I would like to see a bit shorter sleeves. I'm 5'4", but not petite, and the sleeves are a tad too long.

Warm, Cozy, Comfy wool top
I like the weight and warmth of this top. The zipper feature is great and makes it easier to put on. It is the perfect weight for cool NM mornings, fits to size. I ordered and XS.

Keeps this old lady warm!
This mid-weight wool base layer keeps me warm, especially when there is wind, and it’s a lifesaver. I wear it all year, even in the summer when I’m sitting on the beach at dawn when it can be quite chilly here in the Pacific Northwest.
